🦋🩵 Nails of the week: 135 First View 💅🏽

I was a little bit nervous to rent a car by myself. It’s the first time I’ve done a car rental, and it’s the first time driving properly in a different country. So to navigate it all alone was a lil scary.

But I kinda live for fear like that. It’s the kind of fear that encourages you out of your comfort zone and it’s such an exhilarating feeling.

I’ve driven all over this lovely island and seen and experienced some of the most amazing things which wouldn’t have been possible if I didn’t push through that little bit of nervousness about driving myself.

Doing things alone, doing new things, pushing through fear, and solo travel in general makes me TRUST myself so much.

To trust yourself is such an underrated feeling. I think it’s one of my favourite gifts that solo travel has given me ✨

I LOVED the Tamarin Falls Hike! Details:

• I booked with
• There is a full day and half day option.
I chose the full day.
• I paid €70
• Where the hike continues for the full day option is a lot more intense than the first half. So keep that in mind in relation to your physical abilities.
• The hike was around 6 hours

Highly recommended adding to your Mauritius itinerary!

Can’t lie I was really annoyed that my period came on this trip 😩 because I have PMOS/PCOS it’s impossible for me to plan trips around my period because I’m never sure exactly when it’s going to come.

As someone that loves the water, and things like waterfall hikes like I’m doing here, it can get a little awkward when I’m on my period!

Firstly, I prefer to not use tampons but kinda have to when wearing a bikini! Secondly, I hateee getting in the water when using a tampon - I get so paranoid about leaks! And finally, there’s no toilets in places like this 😭 changing your tampon in the middle of the jungle is far from ideal 😫

Anyway, I didn’t let my period stop me! To make sure I enjoyed as much as possible whilst avoiding any discomfort, I decided to get in the water towards the end of the hike so I didn’t have to deal with the water-tampon situation for the whole day.

I used Non-applicator Tampons.

Now what…? 😕😅

I did actually end up going to the beach even though the weather wasn’t great. I found a spot under an umbrella, journaled, read my book, spoke to locals walking along the beach and other hotel guests, took in the pretty view, then had an early night. And I thoroughly enjoyed it! 😊

When travelling solo, you will get fleeting moments of loneliness or not knowing what to do. But, I love how it kinda forces you to find new things you enjoy, it forces you to have conversations with people you never would have if you were with your friends, it forces you out of your comfort zone. It really is true that great things happen outside of your comfort zone.

When I was heading back to my room I had a fleeting moment of “I wish I had someone with me”. But, I ended up having a really nice afternoon and ended up feeling glad that I was alone.

Are you someone who wants to solo travel but are putting it off? What’s stopping you? I’m not a pro, but I can definitely add some perspective 🫶🏽

Took a break from the beaches and waterfalls and headed into the city for a food tour in Port Louis! 🇲🇺Highly recommend if you want to try some traditional & authentic Mauritian cuisine and get a chance to explore the city with someone who knows all the best spots!

Hiking Le Morne Brabant in ! 🙌🏽 It was challenging, but fun and a very rewarding hike 😎

Things to note:
• It’s rated a 3/5 difficulty and I’d agree! Maybe even push that up to a 3.5/5 😅 I wouldn’t recommend if you’ve never hiked before.
• Bring plenty of water. I brought 1.5L and got through it all.
• Wear comfortable, supportive, grippy shoes.
• Wear light clothing.
• Bring sun cream, sunglasses/cap if you do it on a sunny day.
• You don’t have to do it at sunrise. There are other times available.

Our guide, and founder of the company looked after us, made sure we were safe, educated us on the history of the mountain, and answered any questions we had.
