MAJOR TRANSFORMATION - step one 🫡

I met Jo just over a year ago, her hair required a pretty intense corrective service, then we followed with regular regrowth coverage. She’s always been a brunette and found the sight of white hair peeking through unbearable, to the point where she was booking in every 3-4 weeks 🫣

We spent months exploring our options and trying different things, until we realised she doesn’t hate the white hair anymore, she hated the strong regrowth line and who could blame her!

I find that many clients would love to embrace their natural colour, but they find the change scary, they’re anxious about letting go of a colour they’ve had for years, they stick to the safe and comfortable - so here we are, changing lives one appointment at a time 🥺

Now, transformations like these are usually challenging, from previous sessions we’ve learned that Jo’s hair doesn’t take well to lightener and we had to be extra cautious.

The two main issues we had was the fact her hair texture is very thick and corse, which can be difficult to lighten safely. The other issue was a buildup of years of permanent colour, more specifically stronger pigmented colour that’s designed for white hair coverage.

Jo was great, patiently grew out her hair for 3 months as I suggested, which was a big help in assessing the percentage of white vs natural brown hair in different areas around her head. This also gave the her a nice break from chemical treatments and a chance for the colour to fade.

To start the process via ‘grey blending’ technique, I strategically lightened the hair through her parting and a little on the sides, as these areas have the most white hair. I used very fine weaves and sections to mimic the natural pattern.

As for results, we created a much soften transition by eliminating the harsh regrowth line and we’re super happy with what we achieved.

We’re excited for what the next session will bring in April 🥰

Let this be a reminder that Rome wasn’t built in a day and beautiful and healthy hair takes time.

I’m sorry, I’ve been absolutely terrible at posting over this past year 🫠

Just here to assure you I’m alive, working 4 days a week behind the chair and never having a slow or boring day 😜

Social media presence was such a huge part of starting my business 3 years ago, I spent hours and hours every week capturing content, editing and writing up fun and informative captions.

As my business grew, client retention built up, I’ve been continually fully booked for weeks or months ahead and trying to keep up with socials felt like a full time job on top of a full time job in the salon and behind the scenes.

Honestly, I’ve felt really overwhelmed by the pressure of showing up, work and personal life has been so busy, but I’ve also felt guilty about neglecting this part of my job, a part I really used to love!

I wouldn’t change being a business owner for the world, but as you can imagine, there’s so much more to being the salon’s only one employee than the work I do behind the chair. It’s hours every week of cleaning and sanitising, messaging with new and existing clients, booking appointments, checking and ordering stock, managing finances, preparing for tax returns, maintaining the salon and equipment, oh the list goes on.

So, I’ve promised myself to create a better balance, show up more and let you see more of the magic I create everyday 🥰

Ffion here is so lucky to have such a light natural colour that seamlessly blends with my bespoke lived-in lightening technique!

It grew out so softly that she didn’t need to see me for a little over a year.

We opted for the full works again today and yes, we’re obsessed! 😇

Corrective colour works - hours of hard work and anxiety but boy was it worth it 🔥

Long story short, my new client here ended up with a much darker overall colour than she wanted and asked for my help.

Our first step was a good cut, few inches off plus long layers, bangs she’s been wanting for ages and a semi permanent colour melt. Believe it or not, she’s naturally dark blonde, I chose a semi medium brown to cover her roots and last banding, creating a more seamless blend into the black mids/ends. This evened out the canvas and made the lightening process more successful.

The second step was a strategic foil placement, only about 30 highlights, mix of finer and thicker weaves. Every foil was reopened and resaturated with fresh lightener as I wanted a maximum amount of even lift.

Lastly, we glossed with a custom toner to create a beige tone and blend everything together.

Safe to say, we were over the moon with our results 🌙

Our aim going forward is to still maintain a darker base and an overall bronde result as desired by my client, we’re absolutely not working on a platinum blonde 😅

I just want to stress that the condition of her hair was very good before we started and by using great high quality products, we absolutely didn’t cause any damage or breakage during this service 😌

Don’t be scared to add dimension to your highlights 🫶🏻

We previously took this client very blonde (last pic), although we both loved the colour, she felt like it was a bit too bright for her dark facial features and she wasn’t wrong!

This time we decided to add lots of lowlights under her highlights, this darker blonde matched her natural colour perfectly and resulted in complimenting her darker eyebrows and eye makeup, whereas the highlights made her blue eyes pop ✨

Not only we emphasised her natural beauty, but also guaranteed a much softer regrowth, prolonging her colour ☺️

Chlorine/salt water exposure
Frequent purple shampoo use

All these issues can be solved with one product - a clarifying shampoo 💆‍♀️

My go-to is K18 detox shampoo, leaves your hair feeling super clean and bright ✨

Don’t forget to always double cleanse and add a clarifying shampoo to your hair routine every few washes.

Another couple things that can be beneficial, a filtered shower head and toning masks.

The first time I ever lightened this gorgeous hair was last summer, we met again this spring to add a little more lightness and bring it back up.

My client has natural level 8/9 hair, very light blonde, it’s in amazing condition and I definitely didn’t want to compromise this in any way.

This was a very bespoke service, babylights around the front hairline + bright but slim money piece, teased weaves through the part and crown area and slightly chunkier but heavier teased weaves in the back for max impact and max diffusion.

This result can definitely last another year or even longer as the regrowth will be super soft 🤌🏻

I’m a strong believer that most natural blondes don’t need a ‘full head of foils’ every 8 weeks to feel lighter 🙈 Working strategically gives the best effect 🫶🏻
