🚨 PSA: PLEASE tell your brow artist about your skincare products before waxing appointments.

One of the most common causes of skin lifting/grazing during waxing is the use of active skincare ingredients, especially retinols and acne treatments.

A lot of clients genuinely don’t realise their products can thin or sensitise the skin, particularly around the brow area where the skin is already delicate.

This includes:
• Retinol/Retinoids
• Tretinoin
• AHAs/BHAs
• Acne medication
• Some anti-ageing products

Even if you only use them occasionally, it’s still important for us to know before treatment.

But how did I identify this as a skincare-related graze rather than a reaction to the wax or a burn?
The skin lifting was only present above the brow, not over the entire brow. If the wax itself had been too hot or caused a true burn/reaction, you’d typically expect to see irritation across all areas where the wax had been applied, not just isolated patches.
