MEET THE CHEF 👨‍🍳

For those who don’t know me, I’m Pete — and I’ve been a chef for around 30 years.
I trained in classical French cookery and spent time working and training in France, before going on to work in some fantastic country house hotels, restaurants and high-end kitchens.
Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to have some pretty special moments, including recognition in the Good Food Guide Top 150, being voted into the UK Top 10 Sunday Roasts, and later being named UK No.1 Sunday Roast, alongside various other awards and accolades.
More recently, I opened a French-inspired restaurant in Bristol, taking it from an idea through to opening and building the kitchen and operation from the ground up. It was a huge amount of work, but something I’m incredibly proud of.
Then life changed a little. My daughter came along, and I decided that spending more time with her and being there while she grows up was more important than constantly chasing the next kitchen job. So I handed the restaurant over and took a step back.
And that’s where The Measure story begins.
I met John and Amy, the owners of The Measure, because our daughters went to school together. What started as simply knowing each other through the kids eventually led to conversations about food and the possibility of me running the kitchen at The Measure.
So here I am!
I’m now running the kitchen and food business at The Measure, working alongside John and Amy and becoming part of the local community.
My philosophy is pretty simple:
Good food. Proper cooking. Quality ingredients. Fair prices.
Expect British classics, modern dishes, homemade pies, brunch, Sunday roasts, chef’s specials and the occasional French influence.
After 30 years in kitchens, I’m really looking forward to this next chapter — cooking good food, meeting new people and becoming a familiar face at The Measure.
So if you haven’t met me yet, come in, say hello and let me cook for you.
