As we exchange flip flops for slippers…remember not to forget those toes until next summer…

Leaving the gels on for too long can damage the nails underneath as they grow! We frequently hear ‘Ill just leave those to grow out.’ Weeks of wear means we haven’t checked your nail plate health, the toe nails are most likely rubbing on the insides of your shoes and the ingrown toe nails go unattended.

Depending on your lifestyle, a pedicure is recommended every 5-6 weeks! Even more so during hibernation season.

Using - The GelBottle Inc™ Heist

Here are six images I am not proud of, and I am posting because I need to normalise the internet a little.

1. Colour wasn’t growing from within the nail matrix, couldn’t possible post that
2. My first Korean lash lift, hated it and didn’t charge my client
3. My client who always goes red after waxing, told me this is totally normal yet I spent hours trying to edit the red skin out as I worried other techs would come for me
4. Glazing powder stuck to the cuticles making the cuticle prep look unclean to me…
5. Probably didn’t like the lighting here, therefore it doesn’t get posted😵‍💫
6. The outer corners could have lifted way better but my client loved her lift and left really happy…she’s also a fellow beauty therapist

You have a full day of clients, you take your pictures and when it comes to the evening you sit and analyse every imperfection of your work. You zoom in and think why didn’t I notice this? You consider editing out that one lash that didn’t lift, that one bit of cuticle you didn’t nip and you reconsider whether you’re as good as you first thought.

But the truth is, the therapist you are comes through 50% technique, 50% YOU. You are the reason your clients rebook. Clients choose you for so many other different factors than what you post on socials.

We need to keep on creating that safe space we maintain for our clients for US online! Let’s stop obsessing over the one lash in the inner corner that didn’t lift! Honestly it’s just so draining!

A note to anybody who is using AI to perfect their images online. We are all thinking it…I’m just saying it…you’re quite literally false advertising your work. If anything you’re only putting extra pressure on yourself to live up to these standards let alone others admiring your work.

In a job where we quite literally work ourselves silly 365 days a year, let’s try to spread the word and normalise whatever we are proud of on social media, not to compete with false promoters.
