Why did we build Io around a single-edge blade?

Because the blade is one of the most important parts of any razor.

A single-edge blade gives us a rigid cutting edge and allowed us to design the entire head around one purpose, delivering a controlled, efficient shave.

It also helped us keep the head compact and the overall razor incredibly light, just 23 grams.

For Io, single edge wasn’t an afterthought.

It was where the design started.

Small batches. Made properly.

A fresh batch of copper Jupiter handles coming through the workshop.

Each one is machined individually, checked and finished before it becomes part of a completed razor.

Copper is one of those materials that only gets more interesting with time, starting bright and gradually developing its own unique patina with use.

This is what Reggie’s has always been about.

Real materials. Precision machining. Small-batch production.

And it’s the same engineering-led approach we’re bringing to Io.

Just 23 grams.

We wanted to challenge the idea that a precision razor needs to be heavy.

By combining a CNC-machined aluminium head with a carbon-fibre handle, we’ve kept Io remarkably light while retaining precision where it matters.

The result is something very different from a traditional safety razor — light, responsive and designed to move naturally in the hand.

23 grams. Lightweight by design.

This is a look at some of the manufacturing stages behind the razor.

The carbon-fibre handle starts in its mould, while the precision-machined head components go through several stages before and after plating.

Different materials. Different processes. All coming together in one razor.

This is the side of Io we love showing — not just the finished product, but how it’s actually made.

Why build another razor?

Because we thought there was still room to do things differently.

Io started with a simple idea — combine the efficiency of a single-edge blade with modern engineering and a completely different approach to how a razor works.

A pivoting head to follow the face.
A magnetic system for simple blade changes.
A lightweight, precision-engineered design.

Not different for the sake of being different.

Different because we believed we could make it better.

No screws to undo. No threads to line up.

Io’s cap clips into place magnetically, making opening and reassembling the razor quick and simple.

It’s one of those details that looks effortless in the finished product — but took plenty of development to get right.

Because good engineering shouldn’t make something more complicated.

It should make it simpler.

This is where all those prototypes led.

Io.

A pivoting single-edge safety razor, developed from the ground up by Reggie’s Razors.

Precision-machined aluminium.
A lightweight carbon-fibre handle.
Magnetic blade loading.
And a pivoting head designed to follow the contours of your face.

We’ve shown you the ideas, the prototypes and the engineering behind it.

Now we’re getting ready for the next step.

Io didn’t start like this.

Before the finished razor came prototypes, tooling, test parts and a lot of trial and error.

We used rapid prototyping to turn ideas into physical parts we could hold, assemble and test.

Shapes changed. Dimensions changed. Components were redesigned. Some ideas worked. Others went straight back to the drawing board.

Then came the machined parts, the carbon-fibre handle and the countless small changes that turned those early experiments into the Io you see today.

This is the part of product development you don’t normally get to see.

Why single edge?

When we started developing Io, the blade was one of the biggest decisions.

We chose a single-edge blade because it gave us the platform we wanted to build the rest of the razor around — compact, precise and perfectly suited to the pivoting head we had in mind.

No proprietary cartridges.

Just a replaceable single-edge blade held in place by Io’s magnetic blade system.

Simple where it should be simple.

Engineering where it matters.

Io uses a magnetic blade system designed to make fitting a single-edge blade quick, simple and precise.

Bring the blade into position and the magnets do the rest.

It’s a small detail — but one we spent a lot of time getting right.

Because with Io, every part of the razor had to earn its place.
