Hi all,

I know this isn’t barber shop-related, but a lot of you have helped me test the car-checking site I’ve been building lately. Some of you tried it right at the start when it was still rough, missing engine data, and before the garage/accounts system was added.

Well… It’s finally finished and fully live 😅

The main difference with Riskey is that it doesn’t just look at a car’s history like most checks do. It also looks at what’s likely coming next in the next 10–20k miles, so hopefully small issues don’t turn into expensive ones later.

The system now covers over 300 engine families, which means around 95% of cars on UK roads are supported.

If you already made an account while helping me test it, it’s worth checking your own car again now that the full engine database is live. If your car is already saved in your garage, it won’t use another free check just to view it again.

Honestly, thanks to everyone who gave feedback while I was building it. A lot of what’s on the site now came from real conversations in the shop.

Hi all, quick update on the car app I’ve been building.

Big thanks to everyone who’s already checked their car and sent feedback. That’s helped shape it properly.

It’s now in a solid place, so if you haven’t tried it yet (or want to check again), feel free. It’s completely free.

The idea is simple:
If enough people use it and add real-world issues they’ve seen at certain mileages, it builds into something genuinely useful for anyone buying a car.
