What are these bumps after laser hair removal?

These are called perifollicular edema, a temporary swelling around each treated hair follicle.

When the laser targets the pigment in the hair, heat is generated within the follicle. This creates a mild inflammatory response that appears as small raised bumps around the hairs.

✨This is actually a positive clinical endpoint and often indicates that the laser successfully reached the target follicles.

The bumps typically settle within a few hours to a couple of days, depending on the individual and treatment settings.

We don’t always see this response, it’s just one of the signs we look for that the settings are right for you!

I’m Natalia, and as well as being your laser technician, I’m a wife, mum, step-mum and dog mum! My husband is in the fire service for Surrey Fire & Rescue, and you might also see him on your TV screen if you’re into UFC.
Between us we have 4 adult ‘children’, 2 sons and 2 daughters, plus a black lab and chihuahua!

After years in the corporate world, a couple of redundancies, and working for companies where | didn’t want to be, I decided to retrain.
Having had laser hair removal myself, I could see how beneficial it is, literally such a game changer, and knew this would be something I would love doing.
I have always been in ‘people’ jobs so knew I would love meeting you all and catching up at each appointment, finding out about you, chatting all things family, work, HRT, breast surgery, dating, holidays, I don’t think there’s anything off limits!! We’ve covered it all 🤍
