👣 Don’t hide your toes this winter—heal and reveal them. 👣

As cooler morning air triggers the first signs of changing leaf colours, migrating birds, and falling seeds we must not forget about our feet.

Moisture is stripped from our skin and nails by cold dry air and indoor central heating. This can make both natural and reconstructed nails more brittle.

So it is imperative to take care of your feet and your LCN toenail reconstruction just as you do your face and neck during the winter months. Focusing on hydration, protection from the elements and pressure, and good general foot hygiene. 
 
Here are some general guidelines to follow:
* Moisturize Daily: Apply a rich foot cream and cuticle oil to your feet and the skin around the LCN nail daily, ideally after washing and before bed, to lock in moisture.
* Stay Hydrated Internally: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help maintain moisture levels in your skin and nails from within.
* Use a Humidifier: Using a humidifier in your home can add moisture back into the air, counteracting the drying effects of heating. (I have literally just invested in one for home).
Rachel’s Tip: I recommend that you try to wear only breathable socks during the winter months, made from materials like cotton or wool blends.

One question that I get asked often is about the maintenance of a reconstructed nail.

How soon will I need to return to have my Wilde-Pedique Silver Plus nail maintained?

This can only really be answered case by case, as how much maintenance needs to be done is determined by the amount of natural nail that remained under the Wilde-Pedique Silver Plus nail originally.

The rate of nail growth will also be a determining factor. Diseased nails will grow more slowly than nails that were originally healthy before they were damaged by trauma for example.

I’ve had amazing feedback from one client regarding her toe reconstruction where the Wilde-Pedique toenail reconstruction lasted 18 months, despite her nail being damaged. There was only a tiny amount of nail to attach the reconstruction to, however the treatment worked really well. Then finally, after the reconstruction came off 18 months later, my client was absolutely thrilled to see a small healthy nail growing. In over 10 years she has never had that happen!

Wilde-Pedique Silver Plus gel was developed for corrective and restorative toenail treatments. What’s so amazing about this product is that it looks and feels exactly like a natural toenail.
