This is what a person with Invisible Illness/Disabilities looks like:
▪️Don’t let the smile fool you! People with chronic invisible illnesses learn to adapt… We build up some form of tolerance to our symptoms in order to look, as society defines, as “normal.”
▪️What you don’t see is the mask people with chronic illnesses have created to hide their struggles with chronic fatigue, nausea, vertigo, muscle weakness, chronic pain, brain fog, etc.
▪️Remember the wise adage, “Don’t judge a book by its’ cover.” Our “invisible illness story” is hidden in the pages of our book of life…
You're feelings are valid
Being described as grumpy, short tempered or miserable can come with the territory of or BUT how about we look at the causes! Our bodies are put through so much more, simple tasks can be exhausting, our bodies can be dealing with chronic pain, symptoms or flares. It can be that the simplest thing as fabric just touching your skin, is too much. But you don't acknowledge someone and their health condition or disability or understand the impact it can have on daily lives. So, that person is most likely experiencing overwhelm, is overstimulated, in pain, struggling to just adult and isn't coping well in that moment and you've seen this, what is usually masked or hidden from view typically.

To put into context, I have multiple illnesses and I work. My illnesses were not the reason, I no longer work in the position I do now, and my sick days are 0 this year. This person, who doesn't know me had come across some information, assumed and decided they had a right to make these assumptions on my life and then had the right to my health and its current state. You don't owe anyone a medical history or explanation, but the affront when you deny them the information wanted is real.
My reaction to the unsolicited advice peddlers, feel free to add your own advice. or isn't cured with kale or yoga sweetheart and positive thinking only gets you so far.

As a disabled person, let's use to open a few discussions up, the first one is the policing of disabled and gatekeeping the facilities from those who need to use them. is changeable and dynamic, it can or not. Many people have or maybe one thing, maybe several things going on. You don't have to be a wheelchair user, to access a disabled toilet and we also do not need an interrogation or interview, which typically starts with why we are not disabled and how the toilet is for the disabled. It actually isn't any of your business, we don't owe you an explanation or a medical history. But for me I feel compelled now, walking around with bracelets and lanyards to announce, yes I am disabled so yes I can use this toilet with my from my bag. A disabled toilet is a facility for all disabled people, regardless of their condition, mobility or reason. What is isn't is an excuse to be rude, intrusive and in some cases downright nasty.
