Penguin’s 🐧

GIANT chalks! 🖍️

Today in Penguin’s we went outside and did mark making with our giant chalks enjoying the sunshine together. We made a range of different marks and discussed what colours we were using too developing our colour recognition too. The children were able to tell the ladies what they had drawn and express their thoughts about their drawing too. This activity was a great way for the children to engage in conversation and develop their vocabulary.

The INTENT of this activity was to allow the children to get creative and use their imagination. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this throughout by having a range of different t coloured chalks to use too. The IMPACT of this activity was that the children were able to get creative and express themselves through their marks they were making.

All in all we have had a fabulous day! 🥰

Ducklings🐥

Song and Story time with Ducklings🐥🎶📚

Everyday we join together as big group for song and story time twice a day, before morning and after afternoon snack. We come together with our friends and ladies and sing some of our favourite songs such as ‘wind the bobbin up’ and our newest addition ‘get up and dance’. This song helps us see which friends have come to nursery each day. We also read some of our favourite stories such as ‘Arlo the sleepy lion’ and ‘sometimes I feel sunny’.🐥🎶📚

INTENT🐥
Our aim is to encourage communication and language, build relationships, develop early literacy skills, and spark a lifelong love of books, music, and learning. Through songs, rhymes, and stories, we create opportunities for the children to explore new words, routines, emotions, and the world around them in a fun and meaningful way.🐥

IMPLEMENTATION🎶
The ladies make song and story time an engaging, interactive experience every day. We use repetition, actions, song discs and expressive storytelling to capture children's attention and encourage participation. Each song and story time are adapted to each child's stage of development, ensuring every child feels included, valued, and confident to join in.🎶

IMPACT📚
These daily experiences have a lasting impact. Children develop their listening and attention skills, begin to recognise familiar words and sounds, build their vocabulary, strengthen their memory, and grow in confidence to communicate. Song and story time also supports emotional wellbeing, creates opportunities for bonding with trusted adults, and lays strong foundations for future reading and learning.
Every story shared and every song sung is helping to build curious, confident learners one page and one rhyme at a time.📚

Mark making in the sand📝🏖️🐚

Today in ducklings we have been exploring the sand, using paint brushes to mark make, write and draw.📝🏖️🐚

Impact📝Today's activity aimed to encourage early writing skills through sensory play while developing fine motor control, hand-eye coordination, creativity, and confidence. It also provided opportunities for children to explore different marks, shapes, patterns, and early letter formation in a fun, pressure-free environment.📝

Implementation🏖️The children used paint brushes to make marks in the sand, experimenting with different movements to create lines, circles, zigzags, patterns, letters, numbers, and pictures. 🏖️

Impact🐚The children were fully engaged and eager to experiment with their mark making. They strengthened the small muscles in their hands and wrists, helping to build the foundations for future writing skills. The freedom to simply brush the sand smooth and begin again promoted resilience, confidence, and a willingness to keep exploring new ideas.🐚

Ducklings Racing Track Adventure 🏎️

Today in Ducklings we have been exploring the world race tracks. We have been using items to create our race tracks including reels and wobble boards. 🏎️

Impact🏎️Today's activity was designed to encourage imaginative play, problem-solving, communication, and the development of fine and gross motor skills. It also supported turn-taking, collaboration, and early understanding of road layouts and movement.🏎️

Implementation🏎️Using chalk, we worked together to create our very own racing track. We added a wobble board to act as a bridge for the cars to travel over and used a reel as a roundabout, making the track even more exciting! The children explored different routes, navigated obstacles, and shared ideas as they raced their cars around the course.🏎️

Impact🏎️The children showed fantastic creativity and enthusiasm throughout the activity. They demonstrated excellent teamwork by sharing resources, taking turns, and working together to extend their play. As they guided their cars around the track, they developed coordination, balance, spatial awareness, and problem-solving skills.🏎️

Penguin’s 🐧

Make a wind chime with us! 💨

What loose parts can we add to our wind chime? 🤔

Today in Penguin’s we have got a colander and decided we would recycle it and and use it to create a wind chime using loose parts and ribbon. Throughout the children used their hand and eye coordination to thread the loose parts on to the string and ribbon. The children were also able to learn how to use scissors with the help of the ladies. The children spoke to the ladies about what they could see and what they were going to add to the wind chime allowing them to get creative and share their ideas throughout too. We spoke about sizes, colours and even shapes too. We then took our wind chime outside to hang it up!

The INENT of this activity was to allow the children to use loose parts to get creative and recycle items too. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this throughout by having the different loose parts, string and the colander, encouraging the children to choose which parts to use, explore using scissors and threading. The IMPACT of this activity was that the children were able to develop their imagination, fine motor skills and an interest too.

All in all the children had a busy morning making our wind chime, and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later! 🥰

Whilst taking part in this activity the children were able to develop in different ways such as:

💨Physical development💨

🤔Communication and language🤔

💨Personal, social, emotional development💨

🤔Understanding the world🤔

💨Mathematics💨

*****************
AT HOME 🏡 you could explore reusing rubbish and recycling, making a new purpose for different loose parts to get involved.

REMEMBER to share pictures of all your at home adventures as we would love to see what you have been up to at home as we would love to involve your at home play at nursery to help enhance your play.

Well done everyone! 🥰

All Aboard

Following on from yesterday about how to get to school. The Children asked for the train set to be put out. This was particularly the interests of AT and CC.

The INTENT came from the ladies talking about different transport, with the children of how you could get to school.

The ladies IMPLEMENTED this by putting different resources out like the train track, different coloured trains, bridges. The ladies asked the children what noise did a train make. CC said Chucka Chucka Choo Choo. AT said when the smoke comes out of the front of the train it goes faster and faster. The ladies asked if you could make the train track bigger, some of the children added more track to the original train track.

The IMPACT showed that the children could use their skills and imagination of how to make the train track bigger.

The areas of learning during this activity are:

Personal Social And Emotional Development
Communication And language
Physical Development
Knowledge And Understanding Of The World

At home you could visit the train station with your mummy’s and daddy’s to see different trains and how they set off.

Junk Modelling with Penguins! 📦🤔

What can you make from the boxes? 📦

Today we have been making models with boxes! The children took it in turns to look at the boxes, exploring and discussing what we could use each of them for. As we looked at the boxes laid out, we talked about what we could use them for, how many we could see, how we could stack them and so much more. We also enjoyed exploring our communication skills, exploring different uses for the boxes, making them into cars, spaceships and talking about where we travel to in the car! When we looked at the objects the children began identifying the different shapes of boxes, using words like “big” and “small” the children decided that the bigger boxes would be best to use for a car or hide and seek! They all enjoyed hiding in the big boxes and then jumping out, shouting “BOO”. The children particularly loved building super big towers with the boxes and knocking them back down! We also enjoyed working together to count these, the ladies helped the children where needed, working on maths and communication skills. Exploring building, knocking down and climbing into boxes allowed us to develop our physical skills especially our larger motor skills, as well as allowing us to focus on our maths skills, counting the boxes and how many we could stack before the tower fell over too.

The INTENT of this activity was to allow the children to develop their mathematical skills, counting the boxes, whilst also developing their larger motor skills, by stacking boxes, climbing in and between boxes and much more. The ladies IMPLEMENTED this by providing the children with lots of boxes, tubs and other recycling and allowing the children to use their imagination to building, stack and climb into the boxes. The IMPACT of this was that the children were able to work on communication and language, talking about what they were making and where they would travel to, whilst also developing their motor and maths skills too.

All in all we have had lots of fun exploring our junk modelling and we can’t wait to tell you all about it later! 🥰

Whilst taking part in this activity the children were able to develop in many different ways such as:

📦Physical development📦

🤔Personal, social and emotional development🤔

📦Communication and language📦

🤔Understanding the world🤔

📦Literacy📦

🤔Mathematics🤔

****************
AT HOME 🏡 you could focus on giving a new purpose to your rubbish, using recycling to build, make models or climb into, further allowing you to enhance this experience and develop your understanding further.

Well done Penguins 🐧

One Step Closer To 🏫

Today was all about learning about school and how we would feel. The INTENT came from all the older owls.

We IMPLEMENTED this by getting resources out like a school, uniforms, school, wooden people, trains, and cars. Cheryl asked the children how you would get to school PD said by a car, AT said by a train as she was attaching each carriage to the other trains. AJ said you could get to school by a bus. Cheryl explained that some children would maybe live near their school so they could just walk. Some of the children said that they were worried about school but Cheryl said that there was nothing to worry about as you would meet new friends and do lots of new exciting things.

The IMPACT was that the children could use their skills and imagination of how to learn different ways of getting to school.

The areas of learning during this activity are :

Personal Social and Emotional Development
Communication And Language
Physical Development
Knowledge And Understanding Of The World

At home you could go for a walk and see if you can spot different kinds of transport.

Well Done Cheryl, Carly and Carmel
