When completing a qual just makes sense! And with some of the best in Cumbria around me I probably should’ve done it sooner 🫠😂

Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy…completed it ✅

But there was a bigger reason for doing this…I want to be more available to our SMT learners and graduates. To better support them, empathise with them, and hopefully become a better educator because of it 🤲🏼

It also means I’ll be spending a few hours each week working hands-on in the clinic, building my experience and putting my new skills into practice. But before anyone thinks I’m disappearing from the Academy…absolutely not! If anything you’ll all see more of me than ever 😂

And if you do plan on coming to us after completing the Cumbrian Run…I’ll be the flustered one asking you a million times if the pressures ok 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

This is a face-to-face course and the dates above are the weekends you will be with us in clinic covering a mixture of theory and practical 🤲🏼

If you’re already a gym instructor, PT, studying physiotherapy or sports rehabilitation, this is a particularly useful string to add to your bow 🏹
Improve your understanding of soft tissue, get more confident assessing what you’re feeling, and add a skill that can really complement the way you already work with clients, patients and athletes.

Weekend 4 of 6 for our L3 Personal Training learners 💪🏼
From delivering their business presentations to getting stuck into the practical application of Unit 3: Understanding lifestyle, health, wellbeing and common medical conditions…last weekend was all about developing PTs who can think, adapt and coach the person in front of them 🤲🏼

Learners covered: 
🏋🏼 Adapting programmes for clients with low-risk medical conditions
👀 Movement screening…looking at how someone actually moves and using what they see to cue 
📈 Knowing when, why and how to regress or progress exercise

Good programming isn’t just about having a bank of exercises. It’s knowing which ones are right for the person standing in front of you. And it’s this knowledge that will set the group up well as they move into the final two weekends covering client consultations and programme design and delivery 💪🏼

We’re putting together another DAHM Event Team to support runners as they cross the finish line, and we’re looking for Sports Massage learners and graduates who want to get involved.

If the last few years supporting sporting events has taught us one thing, it’s just how valuable these opportunities are for not only building confidence and developing your hands-on skills, but also your communication skills, decision making skills, etc…the list goes on!
