A client, and a lovely friend, told me today that my skin was glowing 🥹 (full disclosure this pic is from April …) and I instantly felt incredible with a 10% sneak in of self conscious / insecure.

It got me thinking - how many of us truly love a compliment? I genuinely love telling people positive things I see about them (internal or external) but sometimes I wonder, am I highlighting an insecurity? Or making them feel like they were ‘less than’ before I gave them the positive remark?

My husband would tell you I’m way in over my head overthinking and this is me to a tee, but honestly, if you’ve lost weight / look fresh / feel better / giving off a vibe … do you want to know? Or does it make you feel a little more insecure about that area?

When I tell people I’m a skincare specialist, I sometimes catch them looking at my skin first. I don’t wear foundation, and I still carry some of the scars from my acne journey. In my head, I can almost hear the question: how could she possibly be a skin specialist? 🙈

Maybe it’s my own insecurities talking… but today I took a completely bare-faced selfie (originally just to show my Mum my new lash lift courtesy of .thebeautyroom 🤍) and for the first time in a long time, I really stopped and looked at my skin.
And I love it! I love that it’s real. I love that it tells a story. I love that it’s mine. My skin has worked hard to recover from everything it’s been through, and so have I!

This didn’t happen overnight, and it definitely didn’t happen from one miracle product. It’s been consistency, patience, understanding my skin properly, and treatments tailored to what my skin actually needed - regular peels, , and honestly… has been my number one 🤍

But alongside the treatments, the biggest difference has been sticking to a simple routine consistently outside of my clinic treatments. I genuinely use every single day, religiously, and my skin absolutely loves it. Healthy skin was always the goal for me, never perfect skin. I truly believe skin should look like skin - not covered up to look like a porcelain doll. Texture, pores, scars, movement… it all tells a story 🤍 🧚🏽‍♀️
