Wakefield Council has proposed removing the current two hours of free parking, stating that its review found little impact on town-centre footfall.

A SAD DAY AT HAIR N BEAUTY 💔

Today I received the heartbreaking news that one of my lovely, long-standing clients, Wendy Hammill, has sadly passed away. ❤️

Over the years, you build such special relationships with your clients. They become so much more than just someone sitting in your chair. They become friends, and Wendy was certainly one of those very special people. 💕

I will miss doing your hair, Wendy, but most of all I’ll miss our lovely chats, your stories and the laughter we shared. You never failed to put a smile on my face.

And of course, I can’t forget how much our little Izzy loved her Auntie Wendy. She always wanted to come into the salon to see you. 🐾❤️

It’s moments like these that remind me what a privilege it is to be a hairdresser. It’s not just about doing someone’s hair, it’s about the friendships, memories and bonds we build along the way.

Wendy, you really were one of a kind, and you will be so sadly missed.

God bless you, lovely lady. Rest peacefully. 💗

WENDY HAMMILL

Of Castleford. Passed away peacefully in hospital on the 8th October 2026 aged 86 years.
The beloved wife of the late George Hammill and now reunited with her late dearly loved son David, a very dear auntie to Mary, Ian and Lynn also a dearly loved friend of Chantelle and her family, Owen, Casey and Keira.
Wendy will be sadly missed by all of her family, friends and neighbours around the Parklands Estate.

The funeral will take place on Tuesday 27th October with service in Castleford Parish Church at 1-30pm followed by a burial in Whitwood Cemetery.
Family flowers only please. Donations will be gratefully received in aid of The Dogs Trust, a charity so dear to Wendy and David.
All attending are welcome for refreshments after the service to The Magnet Hotel, Castleford.
