Level 3 Hair students unleashed their creativity in a spooktacular Halloween Hair-Up Competition! Using a Halloween-inspired theme, learners showcased their impressive styling skills, transforming hair into a range of imaginative and eye-catching creations. The competition culminated in a fantastic showcase where students presented their finished looks to an audience of tutors from other groups. After careful judging, one outstanding creation was crowned the winning style. Congratulations to Beckie! Well done to all students for their creativity, effort, and amazing work! 🎃👻🕸️🏆

🎮✂️ Learning came to life for our Level 2 Hairdressing NVQ students during an exciting interactive VR headset session! Students immersed themselves in a virtual learning environment, gaining valuable skills while experiencing the latest innovations in hairdressing education.

🌟 Level 3 Part-Time Hairdressing Students Take Centre Stage at Sustainable Fashion Event! 🌟

Our talented Level 3 Part-Time Hairdressing students, Lucy, Rihanna and Jade, were given an incredible opportunity to support a Swap Shop event during West Yorkshire Fashion Week, celebrating sustainable fashion and creativity.

Working behind the scenes, the students provided professional hair styling for the models, creating stunning looks that included curls, elegant updos, pin-up styles and intricate dressing techniques. Their expertise helped every model look runway-ready for the fashion showcase.

Despite working to a demanding schedule with just 15 minutes per model, per look, the students rose to the challenge with confidence, creativity and professionalism, delivering exceptional results and even finishing ahead of time.

Their dedication did not go unnoticed. Event host Camille Johnson, owner of Clobber Swop and a sustainable fashion brand, praised the students as a pleasure to work with and a true credit to the College. Camille commended their organisation, professionalism and artistic flair, highlighting the beautiful hairstyles produced throughout the event.

Volunteering their time to gain valuable industry experience, Lucy, Rihanna and Jade demonstrated outstanding commitment and passion for their craft. So impressed was Camille by their hard work and high standards that she generously rewarded each student with £60 as a thank-you gift, along with a goody bag to recognise their achievements.

This fantastic experience allowed the students to showcase their skills in a real industry setting, build confidence, work under pressure and make valuable professional connections. It also highlights the exceptional talent, dedication and future potential within our Hairdressing department.

Who Are We?
Elements Hair & Beauty is a non-profit training salon based at Castleford College. Our salon provides a professional and welcoming environment where students can develop their practical skills and gain recognised Hair & Beauty qualifications.
All treatments and services are carried out by students in training under the supervision of experienced staff and industry professionals. As part of their learning journey, our students may sometimes be nervous while building their confidence and experience with clients.
We kindly ask all clients to be patient, supportive and understanding. A friendly smile, kind words and constructive feedback can make a huge difference to our students as they learn and grow in their chosen profession.
We charge a small fee for treatments, services, and products. These charges help cover the cost of products and materials, contribute to the day-to-day running of the salon, and support our students' valuable training experience.

🌟 Castleford Hair & Beauty Student Awards 2026 🌟
In June, we proudly hosted our Castleford Hair & Beauty Student Awards, celebrating the hard work, talent, creativity, and dedication of our amazing students.
Despite the extremely hot weather, the event was a fantastic success, with a great turnout and a wonderful atmosphere. It was a pleasure to come together and recognise the achievements of our learners throughout the year.
Choosing our award winners was incredibly difficult, as the standard was so high. In truth, every one of our students is a winner, and we would have loved to have chosen them all. Each student has shown commitment, resilience, and passion for their learning, and they should all be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.
