Want to increase your protein intake without feeling bloated? Here are a few simple tips that can make a big difference:
π₯ Increase it gradually β If you've gone from very little protein to lots overnight, your digestive system may need time to adjust.
π§ Stay hydrated β Your body needs plenty of water to digest and use protein efficiently.
π₯¦ Include fibre β Vegetables, fruit and wholegrains help keep your digestive system moving and support a healthy gut.
π½οΈ Spread protein throughout the day β Instead of having one huge protein-rich meal, aim to include a good source of protein at each meal and snack.
π₯ Choose protein sources that suit you β Some people find certain foods or dairy products harder to digest. Experiment to find what works best for your body.
πΆ Keep moving β Even a 10β15 minute walk after eating can help support digestion and reduce that uncomfortable full feeling.
π΄ Don't forget the basics β Good sleep and managing stress both play an important role in healthy digestion.
Protein is essential for maintaining muscle, supporting metabolism and helping you feel fuller for longerβbut more isn't always better. Finding the right balance for your body is key.
If you're unsure how much protein you need or would like help creating a nutrition plan that fits your lifestyle, send me a message. I'd love to help! π

With a red weather warning in place across parts of the UK, it's more important than ever to look after yourself and those around you.
Extreme heat can put extra strain on the body, leading to dehydration, fatigue, headaches, dizziness and poor sleep. If you're trying to improve your health and wellbeing, don't underestimate the impact the weather can have on how you feel.
π§ Top tips for staying well in the heat:

Eat water-rich foods such as cucumber, watermelon, berries and lettuce.
β
Avoid strenuous exercise during the hottest part of the day (11amβ3pm).
β
Wear loose, light-coloured clothing and seek shade whenever possible.
β
Keep your home cool by closing curtains and blinds during the day.
β
Check in on elderly relatives, neighbours and anyone who may be vulnerable.
β
Limit alcohol and excessive caffeine, as both can contribute to dehydration.
Remember, wellness isn't just about nutrition and exercise β it's about supporting your body through all of life's challenges, including the weather!

πΏ Wellness Wednesday: Is Your Gut Health Affecting More Than Just Digestion? πΏ
When people think about gut health, they often think about digestion. But did you know that your gut microbiome, the trillions of beneficial bacteria living in your digestive system, can influence so much more?
A healthy gut may help support:
β¨ Reduced bloating and digestive discomfort
β¨ Improved energy levels
β¨ Better immune function
β¨ Reduced cravings and improved blood sugar balance
β¨ Weight management goals
β¨ Better mood and mental wellbeing
β¨ Hormonal balance, especially during menopause
β¨ Healthier skin
One of the best ways to support your gut health is by feeding your good bacteria with a wide variety of plant foods. Think colourful fruits and vegetables, beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, and fibre-rich foods.
Simple changes can make a big difference:
π₯¦ Eat more vegetables
π Add fruit to your breakfast or shake
π« Include fibre-rich foods daily
π§ Stay hydrated
πΆ Move your body regularly
π΄ Prioritise sleep
Remember, wellness isn't about perfectionβit's about making small, sustainable choices that support your health over time.
