Aspiration.......do you do it? Do you think it's worth it?

From the very beginning of my training, every trainer I've learned from has taught me to aspirate before injecting. A controversial subject among practitioners.

During my Level 7 qualification in aesthetic practice, one of the modules focused on safety protocols. As part of that, I included aspiration as a technique that may help improve the safety of injectable treatments.

A positive aspiration can indicate that the needle tip is within a blood vessel. Instead of proceeding with the injection, you simply withdraw the needle, replace it, and reposition before continuing. Injecting into a vessel could have serious consequences, so for me, taking a few extra seconds to aspirate is a worthwhile safety step.

Everyone has their own practice preferences, but for me, aspiration will always remain part of my safety protocol.

Keeping the Standards at a high level, setting the bar sky high for ethical safe practice.

There are thousands of injectors within less than a few miles but can everyone confidently label themselves like this???

Are the premises clinical and licensed, are prescriptions managed legally, does your practitioner have the qualifications not just the certificates to provide you with treatments and sound anatomical knowledge??

Big questions before letting someone touch your face!

If I could say anything to my younger self, it would be this:

Material things don't buy happiness.

Your childhood was amazing, filled with some of the best memories you'll ever make. You lived in the blissful unknown, unaware of just how challenging adult life can be and that's exactly how it should have been.

Your Mum and Step Dad did everything physically possible to give you those special days out, the takeaways, the Christmas magic, and the birthday presents. As a child, you saw the joy; as an adult, you see the sacrifice. The long hours, the sleepless nights, the worries they carried quietly so you never had to.

Be forever grateful for the lessons they taught you. They showed you that if you want something in life, you work for it. Nothing was handed to you, and because of that, you learned how to build your own path, stand on your own feet, and keep going when things got tough.

Carry those lessons forward. Teach your children the same values. Teach them that hard work, resilience, gratitude, and determination will take them further than entitlement ever could.

Work hard.
Stay humble.
Be grateful.

And when you've earned it, play even harder.

Whilst I would love to treat you and have all the correct protocols in place with storage of products, aircon so cool conditions there are certain treatments that pose risk of increased downtime with severe swelling and bruising due to disregulation of your body's heat.

With this in mind, I will be looking at my diary this coming week and will potentially suggest moving appointments for when the temperature cools a little for your own safety and experience.

I have treatments booked in such as PMU which do not carry the same risks so they can all continue as planned. 🫶
