Maintenance isn’t just for your car… it’s for your body too.

If you’re training regularly, especially in this hot weather, your muscles are working harder than you might realise.

A regular maintenance sports massage can help to:

✔ Reduce muscle tightness
✔ Improve circulation
✔ Ease soreness and stiffness
✔ Maintain mobility
✔ Support recovery between training sessions

Don’t wait until a niggle becomes an injury. Looking after your muscles little and often is far better than waiting until something goes wrong.

Train hard. Recover properly.

When people ask what I need to carry out a massage…

A space to set up my table.
Room to move around.
That’s about it.

Although… this might be taking the “mobile” part a little too far! 😂

Thankfully, most of my clients have both feet firmly on the ground.

Train hard. Recover properly.

☀️ A slightly different setup today…

My client wanted all the benefits of a sports massage while enjoying the warmth of a beautiful summer’s day.

No problem.

Same professional setup.
Same treatment.
Same standards.

Just with fresh air, sunshine and the sounds of nature in the background.

Who says sports massage has to be indoors?

It was a lovely experience, and there’s definitely something to be said for relaxing outdoors — the muscles seemed to agree too!

One of the advantages of being mobile is that treatment can be adapted to suit the client and their surroundings.

Train hard. Recover properly.

Elbow Effleurage

This is one of the deepest forms of effleurage and allows me to apply more targeted pressure into larger muscle groups.

One of the benefits of using the elbow is that I can easily vary the pressure:

• Lean in for deeper pressure
• Lean away for lighter pressure

That control helps tailor treatment to what the client actually needs.

In this clip, you’ll also notice my opposite hand guiding the movement. That’s intentional — it helps me avoid areas like the spine and shoulder blade, where this level of pressure directly onto bone would be very uncomfortable.

Technique matters.
Pressure matters.
Control matters.

Train hard. Recover properly.

Forearm Effleurage
A deeper form of massage technique than my other previous posts.

Using the forearm allows broader, firmer pressure across larger muscle groups.

Why use it?
• Reaches deeper muscle layers
• Helps release tension
• Increases blood flow
• Warms the muscles quickly
• Prepares the body for deeper treatment work.

Different techniques serve different purposes - treatment is always tailored to what your body needs.

Train hard. Recover properly.

Effleurage De Poing

A deeper version of traditional effleurage, often used on larger muscle groups like the back, quads, hamstrings and calves.

Using the fist allows firmer pressure to reach deeper muscle layers — without the sharper pressure of thumbs or elbows.

Why use it?

• Helps warm the muscles quickly
• Increases blood flow
• Helps reduce muscle tension
• Flushes out waste build-up after training
• Prepares the body for deeper treatment techniques

When used towards the heart, it can also help support circulation and reduce swelling.

It might look simple — but every technique used during treatment has a purpose.

Train hard. Recover properly.

It might look basic, but it’s a really important part of a massage.

It helps to:
• Warm up the area
• Get the blood flowing
• Introduce touch and relax the muscles
• Apply the lotion ready for deeper work

It sets the tone for the rest of the treatment.

Many congratulations to everyone who took part in the London Marathon — what an incredible effort 👏

To be part of something like that is special… and one you won’t forget.

Now comes the recovery.

If the legs are feeling it over the next few days, I offer mobile sports massage in Chelmsford to help you loosen up and get moving again.

Feel free to drop me a message if you want to get booked in 👍

Don’t let all that hard training go to waste so close to your goal. A massage can help keep you moving when the niggles start appearing.
