If you’re constantly adding a new serum, acid, toner or TikTok recommendation to your routine, there’s a VERY good chance your skin is crying out for a break.

And no, I’m not about to give you another complicated routine full of actives. In fact, I’d do the complete opposite. Your everyday routine should be simple, hydrating and supportive, especially if you already know you’re going to keep experimenting with new products anyway 😂

Think of this as your “keep my skin happy while I inevitably try another serum” starter pack. Your skin barrier will thank you for it!

Save this for the next time TikTok convinces you that you desperately need another skincare product… 👀

That dermaplaning glow… ✨ but the bit I care about most is what happened to the skin to get there.

Dermaplaning isn’t simply removing peach fuzz with a blade.

Your pressure, blade angle, skin tension, product choice and the amount of glide you have can completely change how the treatment feels and how the skin responds afterwards.

This is one of the reasons I moved away from traditional dry dermaplaning and developed my Oil Dermaplaning technique.

For me, the oil isn’t there just to make the blade “slide better.” It gives me more control over the glide, allows me to adapt my pressure throughout the treatment and helps me work in a way that feels much more respectful of the skin barrier.

And that’s the biggest thing I want skin specialists to understand…

A beautiful dermaplaning result shouldn’t just be about how smooth the skin looks immediately afterwards.

I’m looking at:
✨ How calm the skin is
✨ How controlled the treatment felt
✨ Whether I’ve avoided unnecessary friction
✨ How the skin barrier has been respected
✨ And how the skin looks and feels in the days that follow

The blade is only one small part of dermaplaning.

The technique behind it is everything. 🤌🏼

Okay, before you all come for me… I KNOW BETTER NOW 😂

✨ Using hairspray to set my makeup
I was 17. It was a night out. I wanted that makeup to NOT MOVE. Did I care what I was spraying all over my face? Absolutely not. Was it technically skincare? No. Was it criminal? Looking back… yes 😂

✨ Makeup wipes + micellar water
Guilty 😬 And I mean years ago, before anyone comes for me! I genuinely thought if the makeup was off, the skin was clean. Now I know there’s a whole lot more to properly cleansing your skin than that.

✨ Over-exfoliating
This one taught me the biggest lesson. I genuinely thought the more I could remove, the cleaner, smoother and better my skin would become.

Spoiler: it did the exact opposite 🫠

My skin became more irritated, more sensitive and generally just… unhappy.

And honestly, I think making mistakes like these is part of becoming a better skin specialist. You learn, you understand the skin differently, and you definitely stop spraying hairspray anywhere near your face 😂

If you’ve ever made one of these mistakes… please tell me I’m not alone 👀

Look closely at the before… 👀

This skin was dealing with a lot of congestion, with build-up sitting within the pores and a dry, dehydrated-looking texture making everything feel even more noticeable.
When pores become congested, a mixture of oil, dead skin cells and other debris can build up inside them. Over time, this can contribute to visible blackheads, whiteheads, uneven texture and that overall “clogged” appearance.

During this one hour facial, the skin was thoroughly prepared before carefully working through the congestion with professional extractions. The goal wasn’t to aggressively squeeze everything out, but to work methodically and safely to clear what was ready to be extracted.

And the difference afterwards is SO satisfying 🤌🏼

The pores look visibly clearer, the texture looks smoother and the skin has that fresh, healthy-looking glow that comes from properly clearing away the build-up.

This is what good extractions can do and thats exactly why I created my Extractions Masterclass.

I wanted to create the training I wish more skin specialists had access to, something that teaches you to actually understand congestion and extractions, rather than simply being shown how to squeeze a pore.

Inside the masterclass, I take you through how to identify different types of congestion, how to properly prepare the skin, extraction techniques, pressure and positioning, working safely across different areas of the face, common mistakes, when NOT to extract and how to get better results while respecting the skin.

It’s for skin specialists who want to feel more confident, knowledgeable and intentional with their extractions, because the best results don’t come from squeezing harder. They come from understanding the skin and knowing exactly what you’re doing.

If you want to level up your extraction game, comment “EXTRACTIONS” or DM me for the details 🤍

Nothing more satisfying than a little closed comedone extraction 🤌🏼

The tiniest bumps can hold the most underneath… but the real skill is knowing which ones are ready to be extracted and how to remove them safely, without causing unnecessary trauma to the skin.

Who else could watch these all day? 🥹😍

Your acne might actually be GONE… 👀

That red mark you’re staring at thinking, “why is this spot STILL here?!” might not be a spot at all.

It could be PIE - post-inflammatory erythema.

Basically, the breakout has healed… but the redness has stuck around for the afterparty 😂

And this matters because PIE is NOT pigmentation, so treating it like pigmentation can have you throwing completely the wrong products at your skin.

Quick test:
Press the red mark gently.
If it fades and then comes straight back? 👀
You’re probably looking at PIE.

So before you convince yourself your acne “isn’t improving”… look a little closer.

Sometimes the breakout is gone.
Your skin is just still healing from it. 🤍

And PLEASE stop picking at it… you’re literally giving that red mark a reason to stay longer 😭

Next reel: PIE vs pigmentation, because they are definitely not the same thing.

Sometimes the skin needs support… not more trauma ❤️

And this is one of the reasons I LOVE LED.

When we’re dealing with acne, persistent redness or rosacea-prone skin, my answer isn’t always to exfoliate more, peel more or throw another active at it.

Sometimes we actually need to work on calming the inflammatory response.

Red LED works through a process called photobiomodulation, where specific wavelengths of light interact with our cells and support the processes involved in energy production, repair and inflammation.

For acne, we can also utilise blue light, which interacts with naturally occurring porphyrins produced by C. acnes bacteria, making LED such a useful option when we want to support inflammatory breakouts without physically traumatising already angry skin.

And I use LED for the complete opposite reason too…

After treatments where I HAVE intentionally created a controlled inflammatory response, such as microneedling, LED can be used to support the skin through that recovery process, helping to calm post-treatment redness while supporting repair.

That’s why LED isn’t just the relaxing bit at the end of a facial 😂

Sometimes it IS the treatment.
Sometimes it supports the treatment.

And sometimes the best thing we can do for inflamed skin is stop attacking it and give it the conditions it needs to recover. ❤️
