A Calmer Canine

If, like me, you get hot under the collar every time you see a human walking their dog in scorching temperatures on hot pavements, you may like to support this petition.
It has been launched by a vet nurse who's an international canine first aid expert. She is calling on the government to make it illegal for dogs to be walked in temperatures of more than 25 degrees.

Personally, I don't believe education is enough. Every year, despite publicity by the RSPCA, by vets and by dog professionals, we still see many humans walking their dogs in very hot temperatures. The humans appear oblivious to the fact their dogs are clearly struggling - and suffering.

As Professor Daniel Springer-Spaniel says "Humans Can Be Quite Stupid," and there are none so stupid as those who walk their dogs at midday in 30 degrees. And believe me, they do.

This wonderful boy visited me in the canine cabin this morning for a WEBB session. Meet Keegan, a sweet-natured, wire-haired pointer x vizsla originally from Cyprus. He's holding a lot of tension and has become quite anxious after losing his best mate Tank last year - who I saw regularly.
Keegan definitely enjoyed having some of that tension released. We had lots of deep breaths and big stretches as his fascia tightness was released.

Beautiful Lola put in an early appearance at the Vale Wildlife Centre Open Day yesterday and popped into my shady gazebo for a drink and a short assessment.

I met a few beautiful dogs and many dog-loving humans yesterday at the Open Day held by Vale Wildlife Hospital & Rehabilitation Centre.
It was a great event, the organisers quite rightly cancelled the dog show for 'dogs in person' due to the heat and instead, held a dog-less show using photos and videos of entrant's four-legged friends for judges to study.
I hope the Centre has still managed to raised lots of funds.

This was one lovely girl I met early on before it got too hot. She's Lola a 9-year-old Lab rescue from overseas. There are plans for Lola to come and have a full WEBB massage session with me in my cabin in Winchcombe to ease some tension around her shoulders.
I can't wait to see her again. She was a real sweetie.

Petition under way asking Tewkesbury Borough Council to install heat warning signs in popular dog walking areas.
If done in Tewkesbury we could ask for Winchcombe to be included too.
