Thank you to all my clients for trusting me with your skin, recommending me to friends and family and for all your support this year.

To my fellow skin therapists - let’s keep spreading the word on Corneotherapy and best practice for long term skin health even if we feel like we’re swimming against the tide of the mainstream sometimes!

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and a healthy, happy 2026 xx

Just a reminder so you don’t get caught running out of products over Christmas.
Ideally let me know next week sometime - last day for posting is Friday 19th & last day for collection in clinic is Monday 22nd.
Happy Holidays everyone! 🎄 🥳

Cold weather, central heating and a lack of sunshine and vitamin D or play havoc with the skin during the winter months.

In the same way that we wear more clothes to insulate us in the winter we should also think about adding a little extra to our skincare routine to keep our skin hydrated and glowing over the festive season.

Try these tips for hydrated, healthy skin this winter:
• use a spritz after cleansing and before moisturising to give the skin a good dose of hydration.
My favourites are:

Dermaviduals Moisturising Toner
ESSE Live Probiotic Mist

• Add an oil - either on top of, or mixed in with your moisturiser to increase lipid levels in the skin helping to reduce evaporation and hold water in the skin.
My favourites are:

ESSE Repair Oil
ESSE Protect Oil

• masks can be a great way of supplementing the skin barrier. Use once a week on your WFH days so it can be left on for a couple of hours to mitigate the drying of central heating.
my favourites are:

Dermaviduals Vitamin Cream Mask
ESSE Cream Mask

In my opinion double cleansing is unnecessary for most people.

Here’s why:

1. A typical double cleanse starts with an oil based cleanser. These oil based cleansers turn milky when mixed with water which means they have a high percentage of EMULSIFIER in them. These emulsifiers induce a “wash out” effect which means they strip oils ON and IN the skin which depletes the protective lipids in the skin over time.

2. The second part of double cleansing usually involves a foaming cleanser. These cleansers also contain a lot of EMULSIFIERS which create the generous foam - see above for why that’s not ideal.

3. Double cleansing was invented by the Beauty industry to make you buy more products.

4. Over cleansing the skin can disrupt the skin barrier.

5. Our skin reacts intelligently to over stripping its oils by creating more oil to compensate.

6. Cleansing once with a cream cleanser or gentle gel cleanser and soft cloth is perfectly adequate for removal of light make-up and suncream.

7. And you definitely don’t need to double cleanse in the morning in fact I’d go as far as to say you don’t need to use a cleanser at all as long as you have cleaned your face thoroughly the night before. A rinse with cool water is fine.

8. Our skin oils have been designed over hundreds of thousands of years to serve a very specific purpose. We should try and hold onto them as much as possible.

9. If you wear a lot of make up and feel you need to cleanse twice just use your cleanser twice you don’t need two products.

Controversial?? 🤷🏼‍♀️

With great sadness, we share the passing of Trevor Steyn, Founder and CEO of Esse.

Trevor dedicated his life to remaking the skincare system — guided by microbiome science, a strong ethical foundation, and an unwavering commitment to sustainability.
His vision will continue to lead us forward.💔
I woke to this news this morning and was completely shocked. Having only just met him a few weeks ago in London I can honestly say he was inspirational, humble and so passionate about the company he built - ESSE. He had so much more to give 😔
Long may his legacy continue.

I’ve been doing a fantastic nutrition course with the gorgeous Chloe Manlay from

She has designed a course especially for skin therapists like myself to arm us with a solid understanding of the kind of nutritional information that is integral to elevating our clients results.

I’ve always been interested in nutrition and have read plenty of books and I’m always listening to podcasts on the subject but the thought of training to be a fully qualified nutritionist was not the path I wanted to go down so Chloe‘s course was the perfect solution!

She has been a nutritionist for many years and worked with patients 1-1 to help them heal their acne and other inflammatory conditions through better nutrition.

She has used her years of experience to put together this course, teaching the foundations of good nutrition; exploring gut health and it’s connection to inflammatory responses in the skin and what strategies to implement to heal the gut and, ultimately, the skin.

I’ve I loved learning with Chloe and now feel like I have a strong understanding of the gut skin connection and feel confident to share with my clients.

if you’re a skin therapist yourself, I would highly recommend her course or if you’re looking for 1-1 nutritional advice about your own skin she’s there for that too!
Check her posts for great nutrition tips and honest advice

Choosing the right topicals is easy 🧴

Popping loads of supplements is easy. 💊

BUT… if you haven’t got the foundations of what feeds your skin from within, then none of these will work as well as you want them to.

We are learning more and more about the connection between gut and skin, and how your gut Microbiome health is intricately linked and directly impacts your skin Microbiome.

❌ Excess alcohol
❌ Excess sugar
❌ Ultra processed food.

All negatively impact your gut health.

Instead, choose:

✅ Whole Foods
✅ Good quality sources of protein
✅ A variety of plant-based foods

I always give a little fist pump when I get a message like this. 💪🏼
So wonderful when clients discover the difference HIGH QUALITY formulations make to eczema/dry skin.
My client went away with just a 2 product routine and a month later this response. 🙌🏼

Photos to follow soon.

Our natural skin oils (sebum) have evolved over the course of our entire existence as a human race.

It’s finely tuned make up of triglycerides, fatty acids, squlane and cholesterol + are finely tuned to serve a specific purpose, in fact many purposes:
- creating a water resistant barrier
- keeping the skin plump by stopping too much water escaping
- feeding our microbiome
- keeping the acidic pH of skin to deter dangerous bacteria
- transporting antioxidants
- offering some natural light protection
- anti-inflammatory properties

There is NOTHING that can be created and put in a pot for us to apply that would be anywhere near as good for our skin, so let’s respect it and get out of the mindset of needing to strip it away.
🙏🏼
