Time for some rest …

As our bodies change in midlife, it’s so easy to slip into old patterns of stricter diets, tougher rules, pushing harder to “fix” weight gain.

But these strategies rarely work long-term. In fact, they often pull us further away from the very thing we need: a calmer, more connected relationship with our body.

These are the 5 things I let go of to build a healthier, more trusting relationship with food and my body. They’re the same things I guide my clients through as a Certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor with my Nutrition Intuition approach.

1️⃣ I cut the food rules
Strict rules created guilt, shame, and rebound eating. Freedom and change begins when rules relax.

2️⃣ I cut the all-or-nothing mindset
Perfection only fuels burnout. Midlife bodies thrive on flexibility, not pressure.

3️⃣ I cut stepping on the scales
Constantly evaluating weight disconnected me from how I actually felt.

4️⃣ I cut comparison
Our midlife journeys are wildly individual. My body isn’t meant to look or change like someone else’s.

5️⃣ I cut ignoring my cues
Hunger, thirst, fullness, cravings, energy, mood. My body is speaking the whole time. I just needed to listen.

Intuitive eating in midlife isn’t about fighting with your body, it’s about tuning in to understand what your body truly needs to feel nourished, energised and supported through this transition.

Because midlife isn’t a problem to control; it’s a season to understand with more kindness. 💛

Which one of these resonates with you right now?
