Lucy Fear Massage & Wellbeing.
Advanced Massage Therapist based in Chepstow, S Wales. (Maitri School of Craniosacral Therapy 2007). Male and female clients. Can do home visits.
I offer treatment for a wide variety of conditions and free consultations. Feel free to enquire further info I was inspired to complete my Advanced Diploma in Massage Therapy when my mum was diagnosed with cancer many years ago and I really wanted to help alleviate her lymph oedema. I was also working with disabled children at the time and soon realised that massage could hugely benefit their mobility and associated symptoms. Since qualifying in 2007 at the Maitri School of Cranial Sacral Therapy in Stroud, I have treated a number of people, young, and old, male and female with various symptoms and conditions. These have included stress relief, ibs, asthma, cancer and much more. I get great pleasure from treating my clients and seeing the benefits and value it had brought to their lives and conditions. My treatments are largely based on Swedish principles, however, I use various techniques to suit a course of treatment that is tailor made to an individual's needs. I continue to learn and study techniques to benefit each client and their condition, to give them a client centred treatment.

Some of you may have seen a recent BBC Wales article about the experience of a massage therapist who has spoken openly about men sexualising her profession, and how repeated experiences of inappropriate behaviour have left her feeling uncomfortable treating men.
I’ve been a massage therapist for 20 years, and although I don’t often share my own experiences publicly, I think it’s important to add my perspective.
I see people of all genders in my clinic, and the vast majority of my clients — many of whom I’ve been seeing regularly for over a decade — are respectful, wonderful people who value me as a person, my skills and my knowledge.
But over those 20 years, I’ve also experienced inappropriate comments, sexualised conversations, stalking, and far too many gross messages, pictures and videos to count. There have been times when I’ve genuinely felt unsafe.
This is one of the reasons I don’t have an online booking system. I want to know who is walking through my door. I want to have that initial conversation, get a feel for the person and make sure I’m comfortable before agreeing to an appointment.
I’m also very clear about my boundaries. They aren’t negotiable. If someone crosses those boundaries, they won’t be welcome back.
I completely understand why some therapists choose not to treat men. When you’ve experienced repeated harassment or inappropriate behaviour, you have every right to make decisions that help you feel safe.
But I do have an issue with the idea that we shouldn’t treat men at all.
I see many men in my clinic. Respectful, kind, genuinely lovely men who come for massage because they have pain, tension, injuries, stress or simply want to look after their wellbeing. They deserve access to massage just as much as anyone else — and, in many cases, perhaps we should be encouraging more men to seek it.
If we start dividing massage into ‘safe for women’ and ‘unsafe because of men’, we risk becoming part of the very problem we’re trying to challenge.
Massage Therapy is not sexual.
A massage therapist is not providing a sexual service.
My body is not part of the treatment.
Your body is not an invitation.
And consent, respect and professional boundaries apply to everyone.
The responsibility for changing this culture cannot sit solely with therapists. We need to challenge the people who sexualise the profession, call out inappropriate behaviour and stop treating it as something massage therapists should simply put up with.
I love what I do. I’m proud of the profession I’ve spent 20 years building a career in, and I won’t allow the behaviour of a minority to define the experience for the respectful majority.
But I also won’t apologise for protecting myself.
Boundaries aren’t barriers. They are what allow a safe, professional and respectful therapeutic relationship to exist. ❤️

Temporary Closure Announcement
Hi all!
Due to the high temperatures today and tomorrow, the clinic will be temporarily closed.
Massaging in an attic space without air con isn't fun, so I've made the decision to close the clinic today and tomorrow in the interest of safety and comfort.
Stay cool 😎
See you soon.
