Most therapists care deeply about the work. It’s part of why we do it.

But caring has its occupational hazards.

We stay late. We squeeze in one more client. We replay sessions and carry conversations home with us. We tell ourselves this is commitment. Sometimes it is. Sometimes it’s how we end up running on empty.

Caring sustainably means recognising your limits, having people who support and challenge you, and accepting that you won’t always get it right.

It also means letting go of the idea that you need to solve everything. Often, your presence matters more than the perfect answer.

Boundaries aren’t a failure of care. They’re part of doing the work properly.

At Cornerstones Centre for community, Chester-le-Street, we have 2 projects, Mondays £10 seated massage, or free if prove on benefits) and Wednesdays Free Massage and reflexology for people with cancer. Book a slot and spread the word 🙏
