Here’s something that surprises a lot of people.
Many adults assume returning to education means paying thousands of pounds upfront.
But that’s not always the case!
If you’re aged 19 or over and studying an eligible qualification in England, you may be able to access government funding through an Advanced Learner Loan.
• Your household income isn’t used to decide if you can apply.
• There aren’t credit checks as part of the application.
• Repayments only begin once your earnings are above the repayment threshold.
• If you have children, learners accessing an Advanced Learner Loan may also be able to receive financial support towards childcare costs for the days they’re attending college, helping make returning to education more manageable.
It’s one of those things people often discover after they’ve already ruled out studying because they assumed it wasn’t affordable.
And now you know support is available!
If you’ve ever thought, “I’d love to work in beauty, but I’m just not capable,” you’re definitely not the only one.
One of the biggest misconceptions about the beauty industry is that you need experience before you can even begin. You don’t.
Every beauty therapist was a beginner once. They didn’t know how to perform treatments or feel confident from day one …they learned, practised, made mistakes, improved, and kept going.

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is…
“I’m too old to retrain.”
Somewhere along the way, we’ve been taught that education is something you do in your late teens and early twenties….But why?
Some of the most dedicated learners walk into a classroom in their 30s, 40s and even 50s.
They’re not there because they have to be.
They’re there because they’ve decided they want to!
A career…A job they LOVE and new skills they can build into a business.
Or simply the confidence that comes from learning something new.
The beauty industry is full of people who started later in life, bringing with them life experience, communication skills and professionalism that clients genuinely value.
This is your reminder that learning doesn’t have an age limit!!
One conversation we have almost every day is with people who’d love to work in the beauty industry but assume training is out of reach financially.
The reality is that there are funded beauty qualifications available for many adults aged 19+, and so many people simply don’t realise they could be eligible.
Whether you’re starting from scratch, returning to work, or looking to build on the skills you already have, it’s always worth exploring your options before deciding it’s not possible.
We’ve seen learners from all kinds of backgrounds gain confidence, develop practical skills, and completely change their career direction.
