The MHRA has once again highlighted the importance of patient/client safety when it comes to injectable aesthetic treatments.

If you are having prescription-only wrinkle reduction treatment, you must be assessed by a qualified independent prescriber in a face-to-face consultation before any treatment takes place. This is a legal and essential safety requirement.

🚨 If you are being offered treatment without seeing a prescriber, or you're told "it's all done online" or "the practitioner can prescribe themselves" when they are not legally able to, do not be talked into believing it's acceptable. There is a significant risk that the product being used is not a legitimate UK-sourced prescription medicine.

Only a Dr or Dentist can legally hold stock of Prescription only medication.

Your prescription consultation should be separate from your treatment appointment, allowing the prescriber to assess your medical suitability and issue a prescription specifically for you before treatment is carried out.

Sadly, there are still many clinics ignoring these legal requirements and putting patients at unnecessary risk.
If you see clinics advertising or carrying out prescription-only treatments without following the correct prescribing process, report them to the MHRA and your local Environmental Health department.

Ear Microsuction has been performed for many years within healthcare settings and was traditionally provided by Healthcare Professionals in GP surgeries. However, due to changes in NHS service provision, ear wax removal is no longer widely available as an essential service, creating significant demand for trained practitioners.

❌ Ear Syringing is now generally considered outdated due to the potential risks and complications associated with irrigating the ear canal.

✅ Ear Microsuction is widely regarded as the gold standard for ear wax removal. Using specialist equipment, softened wax is gently removed under direct visualisation through a controlled suction process, making it a safe, effective and highly sought-after treatment.

This training was historically available only to medical professionals. Having received training from an experienced ENT Doctor, I was proud to be the first educator to introduce Ear Microsuction training to suitably qualified professionals within the aesthetics and beauty industry.

📈 Demand for this treatment continues to grow, with many areas of the UK reporting waiting times of up to 9 weeks for appointments.
