SLiK Nails 💅

This isn’t a post I ever imagined I’d be writing on my business page, but so many of you know and ask about our dogs that I wanted to share a little of what is happening behind the scenes at the moment. ❤️🐾

Our beautiful boy Cosmo is currently very unwell.

We’re in Florida at the moment, thousands of miles away, and what should have been a wonderful holiday has become an incredibly emotional and difficult time for us.

At the beginning of the holiday, we genuinely thought we might be losing him. 💔

Thankfully, Cosmo has slowly shown some improvement and is currently being managed with medication, but he is still very much not out of the woods. The vets are doing everything they can and understandably don’t want to put him through invasive surgery unless it becomes absolutely necessary.

Doing nothing, however, simply isn’t an option if it means we could lose him before we get home.

And being so far away makes every decision feel ten times harder.

More than anything, we just want to be at home cuddling him, caring for him and telling our best friend that everything is going to be okay. We’ve looked at trying to get alternative flights home, but at around $5,000 on top of an already rapidly growing veterinary bill, it isn’t an easy decision to make.

Thankfully, Cosmo isn’t alone.

His beautiful sister, who came into this world in the same litter as him and has barely left his side ever since, is right there with him. ❤️

And we have an incredible little army back home — his sitter, his two wonderful dog walkers and his human Grandma — all rallying around to make sure both of our babies are surrounded by care, cuddles and love while we can’t physically be there.

We honestly cannot thank every single one of them enough. Knowing how loved and cared for he is is helping us through an impossible situation.

We’re trying to continue with our holiday while constantly checking our phones, waiting for updates, talking to the vets and wondering whether we’re making the right decisions. One minute we’re hopeful, the next we’re terrified. It’s stirring up emotions we simply weren’t prepared for, and right now we’re finding it very difficult to switch off and enjoy being here.

I’m also conscious that when I return home I have an absolutely crazy SLiK Nails diary waiting for me.

At the moment, I’m not making any decisions about that. Cosmo’s health has to come first, and I’ll deal with appointments and work if and when I need to. I just wanted my wonderful clients to understand what is happening should anything have to change at short notice.

For now, we’re taking every little improvement as a win and hoping beyond hope that our gorgeous boy continues fighting and that very soon we’ll be back where we desperately want to be…
