Hair toppers are officially coming to Loss 2 Lace next month!

If you’re experiencing thinning or hair loss but aren’t sure that you need or want a full wig, a topper could offer the coverage and volume you’re looking for while allowing you to keep much of your own hair visible.

However, choosing a topper isn’t simply about picking a colour and length.

The base needs to be large enough to cover the area of hair loss and attach securely to stronger hair around it. The colour, texture and length then need to work with your own hair and having the topper properly cut and blended can make a significant difference to the finished result.

Hair toppers most often sit slightly behind your natural hairline, allowing you to blend some of your own hair at the front for the most natural finish. Although you won’t see me demonstrating this in these images because my own hairline is too weak to do this.

And just like wigs, toppers aren’t perfect and I think it’s important to set realistic expectations.

It can take a little time, work and experimentation to learn how to position and style your topper in a way that works for you and how you like to wear your hair. This may include repositioning the attachments, particularly at the front, if they become visible with your preferred parting.

If you purchase a stock piece and would prefer different front attachments, I can also provide spare combs so you can adapt the design to work better for you.

There will initially be around 20 premium human hair toppers available in a range of colours, lengths, base sizes and constructions.

You’ll be able to try them during an in-person consultation in Corby or purchase directly through my website once the collection officially launches.

Made-to-order toppers are also available if you need a different combination of construction, colour, length, base size or attachment method.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing more honest, practical information about choosing, wearing and caring for a topper.

What would you most like to see first?

Human hair wigs don’t only come in long, flowing styles

But if that’s all you’ve seen, you may have been holding back from exploring wigs because you couldn’t imagine yourself with long hair or worried that wearing one would mean no longer looking and feeling like you.

My Signature Collection includes short, layered bobs and pixie styles for those who feel most like themselves with shorter hair.

As with your own hair, your chosen piece may still benefit from some trimming and styling to personalise the shape, fringe and layers to you.

Because choosing to wear a wig shouldn’t mean having to completely change the hairstyle you know and love.

The Signature Collection isn’t currently available through my website and, for now, is exclusive to in-person or online consultations with Loss 2 Lace.

📍 In-person consultations in Corby, Northamptonshire
đŸ’» Online consultations available

Send me a message or book a consultation if you’d like to explore the collection.

Meet Jess

A beautiful medium chocolate brown with a neutral base, finished with taupe-beige blonde face-framing highlights.

Jess actually began as a customer design. She loved the root colour and face frame of our Taylor wig but didn’t want the balayage through the lengths and lighter ends. So, we created a new colour using Taylor’s root and face-framing highlights and Jess was born!

As with all of our colours, she can also be made to order without the face-framing highlights if you prefer.

She is named after our lovely Jess at Little Learners, who has worked with us for around three and a half years - this time around, anyway! 😂 Jess is kind, passionate and completely dedicated to the children
but outside of work, she is also the life and soul of the Christmas party! Shots anyone?

Jess is currently available in an 18” length with a small cap, but she can be made to order in the length and cap size that’s right for you.

I’ve also just ordered her as an 18” 9x9 closed lace topper, ready for the upcoming Loss 2 Lace topper launch 👀 (more info on toppers to follow shortly)

What do we think of Jess? đŸ€Ž

* Based in Corby, Northamptonshire, UK
* This 18” Jess is £875 and currently available in a small cap
* Other lengths and cap sizes can be made to order
* View prices and order through the Loss 2 Lace website or message me for more info
* Free UK delivery, with international delivery available (customs and import duty apply)
* VAT relief is available for eligible customers
📅 In-person and online consultations are also available

For years, I think I measured my own hair loss by how it looked.

Was it really that bad?
Could I still hide it?
Were there women with much worse hair loss than me?
Should I just be grateful for the hair I still had?

We convince ourselves that wigs are for some future version of us when our hair loss has finally become “bad enough” or that they’re only for people who have no hair at all.

But perhaps we’re measuring the wrong thing.

Instead of asking:

“Have I lost enough hair to wear a wig?”

Maybe ask:

“How much of my life am I already giving to my hair?”

The checking.
The hiding.
The strategic hairstyles.
Avoiding photographs.
Worrying about the weather.
Wondering whether somebody can see your scalp.
Thinking about your hair far more often than you ever wanted to.

If it’s already affecting your confidence or taking up too much space in your head, that matters.

You don’t have to wait for it to get reach a certain level before you’re allowed to explore something that might make your life easier.

And let’s not forget something else

Plenty of women wear wigs simply because they WANT to.

For convenience. For more volume. For different hair. For a new colour. Because they’re fun. Because they bloody well feel like it.

Nobody needs to earn the right to wear a wig through hair loss.

And trying one doesn’t mean committing to wearing wigs forever.

It just gives you another option.

If you’ve been thinking about trying a wig but keep telling yourself your hair loss isn’t “bad enough” yet, you’re exactly the person I want to feel welcome at Loss 2 Lace.

I offer relaxed, no-pressure wig consultations in Corby, Northamptonshire, as well as online consultations, and you can also shop my collection of ready-to-wear human hair wigs online.

Follow Loss 2 Lace for honest wig advice, hair-loss support and a very different way of talking about wigs.

And if this made you think of someone who’s been waiting until their hair is “bad enough”, send this to them. đŸ«¶đŸ»

For lace top wigs, if you have your own hair underneath and want that natural part line - it’s important to line up your own natural parting with the parting of the wig to show your actual scalp through the lace.

Otherwise, through the lace, you’ll see your own hair underneath instead of scalp
which can be especially noticeable if you have darker hair like me.

And if you’re wearing a wig grip with a lace parting section, it’s equally important to line that lace section up with the wig’s parting too, otherwise you may see the velvet showing through the part line.

As shown in the video, I often need to adjust my own natural parting slightly underneath the wig grip to get everything lined up properly.

Of course there are other options such as silk liners or using scar tape on the inside of the cap along the part line. However, lining up my part line is my personal favourite and looks and feels the most natural to me.

A human hair wig consultation at Loss 2 Lace starts with a drink and a chat.

We talk about what you’ve been through, what you’re struggling with, what you’re looking for and what kind of support you need because that is how I guide your consultation.

When you’re ready, I’ll take your measurements but these are just a guideline and true fit starts by actually trying pieces on.

You can try as many lengths and colours as you like. And as I am preparing my human hair topper launch, if you are unsure which is right for you, I have a few toppers you can also try. The more the merrier!

As we go, I’ll talk you through construction, how they’re worn and what might work best for you.

There’s no rush and absolutely no pressure to buy. My goal is for you to leave feeling more confident, not more overwhelmed.

If you’ve booked a longer, in-depth consultation, we can go deeper.

We can talk more about aftercare and the realities of wig wearing and caring for a human hair wig. We can explore how you might style your wig to make it feel more like you, and even try a few things out together.

And if you’d like, we can also talk about the emotional side too. Because sometimes having someone who genuinely listens and understands the hair loss journey means more than you realise.

If you fall in love with a ready-to-ship wig, you can take her home and I’ll cut the wig lace for you. Or we can create something made-to-order, just for you.

And if you’re not ready yet?

That’s okay too.

You don’t need all the answers.
You don’t need to feel confident.
You don’t need to know exactly what you want.

Because a wig consultation isn’t something you come to once you’ve figured everything out

It’s part of the process of figuring it out.

The most important thing is simply taking that first step.

And that doesn’t necessarily have to mean walking through my door. It might be booking an online consultation instead, or even just reaching out to me in my inbox.

Sometimes, waiting until you feel completely ready just keeps you stuck for longer.

Just know that my consultations are a safe place to start, whether you’re ready
 or just curious.
