I had a VERY specific idea in mind for my competition winner…

My client had absolutely NO idea what colour I was going to do, all she knew was that I had creative control and she had to trust me 😏

At a previous appointment, we’d been chatting about Demon Slayer and how cool Rengoku’s hair is 🔥

She had no idea at the time, but that conversation got my brain ticking…

Because my other favourite Hashira, Mitsuri, has one of THE most iconic colour combinations too 🩷💚

So naturally… I thought:

WHY NOT PUT BOTH ON ONE HEAD?!

The brief from my client was basically:

❌ “Not too much yellow”
❌ “Not too much green”

…which was slightly problematic considering YELLOW AND GREEN ARE TWO OF THE MAIN COLOURS I WANTED TO USE 😂

So I had to get creative

I decided to soften the yellow into a more yellow-orange tone, and thankfully she trusted me enough to say:

“Bah go for it. I trust you. We can always change it.”

And that’s exactly what I needed to hear 😈

After lifting out the previous fox-tip/copper-to-black colour, I created a nice clean canvas, neutralised the panel where I needed those pink & green tones to really pop, and then…

I got to work 👀

But what did I actually create?!

And more importantly…

WHAT DID SHE THINK OF IT?! 👀

So… did I RUIN her hair?! 👀PART 2

If you saw Part 1, you’ll know this colour has been quite the journey 😂

This transformation actually happened over 3 separate appointments, because when you’re working with previous box dye and layers of vivid colour, sometimes you have to play the long game!

Appointment 1: We started by removing the previous red box dye and, rather than trying to force our original goal immediately, we went for a gorgeous blue & purple moment.

Appointment 2: We removed more of that colour, including that CLINGY blue pigment that absolutely did NOT want to leave 😂 and managed to create a beautiful mix of pastel pinks, purples and teals.

And finally…

Appointment 3: We had finally reached a point where the hair was ready to achieve the original goal: SILVER ✨

BUT… because apparently I can’t just leave things alone

We decided to spice it up with some vivid colour underneath and create a hidden Northern Lights inspired rainbow.

And honestly?! I am OBSESSED.

A soft, icy silver on the surface… then underneath we have the most gorgeous hidden blend of pink, purple, blues & greens 💗💜💙💚

And yes, throughout this whole journey, the condition of the hair has been the priority. We’ve taken our time, worked gently and made each colour decision based on what the hair was actually ready for.

Because sometimes being a good colourist isn’t about forcing the original plan…

It’s about knowing when to change the plan, trust the process and play the long game. 👏🏼

So I have to ask…

Did I ruin her hair… or did we absolutely smash it?! 😂

So… I guess I’m adding hair tinsel to my repertoire now 🤔

On another note, can you believe that this leopard print lasted almost 4 months?!

Me and my client had a right giggle over the Facebook comments on our original post, so let me delve into some of the concerns raised here!

SO, first of all, what I didn’t touch on in this video is: my client’s hair is NOT “dead”. We lifted very low and slow, and chopped a lot of length off to keep it as fresh as possible, and she actually left with the condition feeling even better than it did before!

In my recent video regarding this colour, it showed a faded blue/purple start point with our attempt to get to the pastel side of things while keeping it still vivid. The true goal was pink, but when we did a gentle lift and the top halo lifted great, whereas the minty blue still stuck in the underneath mids and ends, we had an idea and changed the plan.

My client quite liked the minty colour on the ends, so our new goal was to do pink in the roots and top halo, with a purple into mint green/blue on the underneath. We were well aware that it wasn’t going to be absolutely spotless and tone-perfect, her base was VERY uneven, especially after being literally box dyed before coming to me, then we made her blue.

Considering the box dye build-up and previous blue (which we know is a PAIN to remove), we still got an almost pastel but very wearable pink, purple and blue, which my client was super happy with 🩷💜💙

She even didn’t mind the fade, with the top halo being more on the blonde side with a peekaboo mint on the underneath. But we had a new goal in mind now… since she likes to keep me on my toes 😂

Now the goal is HIDDEN RAINBOW 🌈
Obviously, I’m excited. And now this hair has had 2 gentle rounds of bleach, I believe enough of the colour has been removed to make this happen.

I topped up her roots using lightener and only 3%, and on the ends I just used a pink-based toner to try and neutralise the remaining green. And I remind you - toner is super gentle and will not damage this hair at all.

So, tell me, comments… do you reckon I absolutely RUINED this poor, defenceless client’s hair?!

From HBA Connect during the day, getting to see brands (including my favourites at ) learn new things and pick up some goodies, to heading back to the hotel for Korean kimbap, getting glam and somehow managing to do my own hair with the aid of a tiny compact mirror 😂

Then it was time for the awards ceremony… where I met some amazing new people, made new friends, enjoyed a gorgeous three-course dinner and danced the night away!

And of course, finding out I placed 16th in the whole of the UK for Colour Specialist of the Year was the cherry on top! ❤️

I’m honestly so proud of my little business and how far it’s come. From starting out behind the chair to being recognised alongside so many incredibly talented people in this industry… it means more than I can put into words

I’m so grateful for everyone who supports me, follows my work, books with me, shares my content, recommends me and cheers me on 🥹

I genuinely LOVE this industry, the people, the creativity, the opportunities and now the memories I get to make along the way

Here’s to many more events, new friendships, big opportunities and hopefully a LOT more dancing with very sore feet afterwards! 😂❤️

Had the absolute pleasure of finally meeting hair king in person at the UK Hair & Beauty Awards 2026 in Manchester this Saturday! 🥰✨

We’ve been hyping each other up online for ages, and at this point we’re pretty much professional idiots on the internet 😂 So obviously, when we finally met, we had to make a silly little video together!

But on a serious note, it was SO lovely to meet so many incredibly talented hairdressers and creatives all under one roof❤️ There is so much talent in this industry and it was amazing to see so many people being recognised for the work they put out there

Huge congratulations to everyone who placed, and to everyone who entered and put themselves out there!

Andrew, it was so lush to finally meet you properly! here’s to many more industry events, new friendships and hopefully many more opportunities to celebrate how bloody talented this industry is! 🫶

Apparently there’s an age limit on vivid hair… according to this lovely little comment I received anyway 😂

This comment was left on a pastel vivid creation I did a while ago, but it got me thinking about how ridiculous the idea of being “too old” for certain colours really is

So let me introduce you to Georgie 💗💜

Georgie is nearly 80, has had her pink & purple “firework” hair for YEARS and absolutely LOVES it. She genuinely finds these kinds of comments as funny as I do, and I bloody love that about her 😂❤️

Because why shouldn’t you be allowed to have fun with your appearance as you get older?

Your hair isn’t supposed to prove that you’re a certain age. It’s a way to express yourself, feel confident and have a bit of fun. Whether you’re 18, 40, 60, 80 or beyond… if you love the colour, WEAR THE COLOUR.

There are already enough rules about how we’re “supposed” to look. We absolutely do not need to be making up more of them.

So thank you to the person who left this comment! You accidentally gave me the perfect excuse to celebrate one of my favourite clients 😂

It is NEVER too late to express yourself, experiment with your hair and love what you see in the mirror ❤️

Wear the pink. Wear the purple. Wear the pastels. Be “too much”. Be yourself.
