Our Autumn Equinox Ritual

We’re back from our summer break… and it’s time to get those rocks hot again!

And what better way to welcome the new sauna season than with our first guided sauna ritual, celebrating the Autumn Equinox.

As summer slowly gives way to autumn, we’ll spend three hours moving between heat, steam, cold water, scent, stillness and good company.

A chance to slow down, switch off and experience the sauna in a slightly different way; with a little guidance, a few surprises and plenty of time to simply enjoy being there.

What is Pirts?

Pirts is a traditional Latvian sauna practice, it's a deeply rooted ritual that brings together heat, nature, herbs, movement, breath and connection.

At the heart of Pirts is the Pirts ritual where heat is combined with fragrant herbal blooms, traditionally made from branches of various trees including Birch, Oak, or Linden.
The gentle sweeping and fanning of heat over the body allows the warm scented air to move around you and create a deeply immersive experience.

Pirts is traditionally much more than a place to sweat. It accompanies every stage of life, from birth to death.

Pirts can be a place for cleansing, healing, celebration, preparation, and transition. It played a role in important moments of community and family life.

In this way pirts was not just a building or a bathing practice.
It was a sacred and practical place woven into the fabric of life. Connecting people with their bodies, their community, their ancestors, and the natural world.
