🚧 Roadworks Update 🚧

The Stewart Street improvement works are now underway, with repairs currently taking place between Gainsborough Road and Jubilee Avenue. Access is limited, so please allow a little extra time if you're travelling to your appointment.

💈 Monopoli's Barbershop is OPEN as usual, and access to the shop is still being maintained.

🚧 Roadworks Update – Please Read 🚧

Just a quick heads-up for all my customers.

I only received a letter yesterday, so apologies that I couldn't let everyone know sooner.

From Monday 27th July, Cheshire East will be carrying out Phase 2 of the Stewart Street improvement works, including the remaining footway improvements, resurfacing of the road and new road markings. The works are expected to last approximately 5 weeks, with a road closure in place Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm.

💈 The good news is that Monopoli's Barbershop will remain OPEN as usual. Cheshire East have advised that they will make every effort to maintain access to businesses throughout the works, although there may be some delays while machinery is operating.

If you have an appointment, please allow yourself a little extra time for your journey and follow any instructions from the traffic management team on site.

🏃‍♂️❤️ Supporting an Incredible Cause ❤️🏃‍♀️

Many of you will know that cancer is something very close to my heart.

My mum fought secondary breast cancer with incredible strength. My customers and friends, Ian Greenhalgh and Moe, both fought their battles with courage and dignity before sadly passing away last year. And on the other side of that fight, my customer Maureen continues to show cancer who's boss every single day.

That's why I'd love to support my customer David and his wife Julie, who took part on the Manchester Half Marathon on 31st May 2026 in aid of the Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity – Cancer Services Fund.

The Cancer Services Fund helps provide additional support, equipment, and comforts for local people living with a cancer diagnosis, including:

💙 Paxman Scalp Cooling Caps
💙 Chemotherapy Recliner Chairs
💙 Hypnotherapy Services
💙 Counselling Support

David and Julie were inspired to take on this challenge after seeing first-hand how these services helped a close friend during treatment. Thanks to a scalp cooling cap, she was able to keep her hair throughout chemotherapy – something that can make a huge difference during an incredibly difficult time.

The fund needs at least £25,000 every year to continue providing these services to local people and their families.

This was Julie's first half marathon, so let's show her and David some support! If you're able to donate, no matter how small the amount, it will make a difference. If you can't donate, a share of their fundraising page would be greatly appreciated.

⚠️⚠️ update - Stewart Street is now open again ⚠️⚠️

🚧💈 Shop Access Update 💈🚧

Cheshire East have commissioned pothole repairs on Stewart Street today and, unfortunately, the road has been closed with no prior notice given to local businesses.

The good news is that I have been informed customers will still be allowed access, so Monopoli's Barbershop remains open as normal.

At the time of writing, I have not been given an estimated time for the road to reopen, so please allow a little extra time for your journey and follow any directions given by the road crews on site.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your patience and continued support of local businesses while these works are carried out.

This weekend marks 2 years since I opened the doors, and I just want to say a massive thank you to every single one of you who’s supported the journey so far.

From day one customers to all the new faces along the way — you’ve helped build something I’m truly proud of.

I’ll be in the shop as usual (fully booked as always 🙌), but I’ve got some Italian sweet treats and drinks in — so if you’re passing by, feel free to pop in, grab a snack, have a drink, and say hello! 🇮🇹🍪🥤

💈 Who Cuts the Barber? 💈

I get asked a lot whether I cut my own hair… and the answer is no chance 😅

Today I was back in the chair at Oakleys Barbers with my good friend Emmie-jayne. Supporting each other in this industry is important. There’s enough room for everyone to do well, and we should always lift each other up.

Emmie has been part of my barber journey for years, sharing advice, encouragement, and always backing what I’m building at Monopoli’s. And on top of that, she’s family (my fiancée’s cousin’s daughter), which makes it even more special.

Barbering isn’t just about haircuts, it’s about community, support, and relationships. Proud to support other local barbers and proud to have good people around me.
