Paul, Summer & Hannah’s Chapter One Hair Spa x Gloss Boss Competition! 🤍

“Taking inspiration from recent Met Gala and catwalk trends, we wanted to create something super soft, effortlessly lived-in and slightly undone — a colour that felt natural, wearable and luxurious all at once.” 😍

The process started with a full head of ultra-fine babylight foils combined with softly scattered lowlights throughout to create depth and dimension. We achieved this using Flash Lift Power 9 with 20 volume peroxide, alongside 7N Shades EQ lowlights.

To create that seamless lived-in root effect, we used Redken’s new Shades ALK range in 7GI and 8N with 10 volume peroxide, blending the root down softly into the lighter ends. Through the mids and ends, we used Shades EQ 8GI and 10GI, whilst weaving in additional 8N and 8GI lowlights to maintain a natural warmth and softness throughout the overall look. A touch of 10AG was added to perfectly balance the final tone.

We finished using the Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate range for shampooing, conditioning and styling before adding a soft, slightly messy wave to complete the look.

“Erin came across a two-tone colour concept whilst scrolling for inspiration and instantly wanted to bring it to life. She created a mood board full of contrasting tones and placement ideas ahead of our content day.” 😍

We experimented with different swatches and colour combinations before deciding on the final look for our model.

To prep the hair, we created a full head of scalp foils — giving seamless colour connection from the root for a softer, more natural grow-out while still creating high impact.

The team then created a halo section through the fringe, sides and back to form a bold colour-blocking panel for contrast.

For the deeper sections, we used Shades EQ ALK 6RV for a rich red-violet tone, while the lighter pieces were created using Shades EQ 09VRO with a touch of 06R. After rinsing, we carried out a gentle flash wash on the lighter panel to make the colour pop even more.

We finished with a Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate treatment to lock in colour, strengthen the hair and add shine, before styling with soft flicky movement to enhance the dimension throughout the look. ✨
