Not everything needs fixing 💜

Sometimes you don't need to be more productive, more positive, more resilient or better at coping.

Sometimes you're just tired.

Sometimes life has been a lot.

Sometimes your body needs comfort, quiet, care and a little less being asked of it.

We spend so much time trying to improve ourselves.

Maybe sometimes the kindest thing we can do is simply look after the person who's already here 🫂

A little reminder of what I actually do around here...💜

Because Unity Wellbeing has evolved a lot over the years.

At the heart of it all is Whole Person Healing: personalised, hands-on treatment that looks beyond the bit that hurts and considers you: your body, your nervous system, what life is asking of you, and what you need on that particular day.

But that's not all I offer ✨

I also provide surgical aftercare, including Manual Lymphatic Drainage and scar tissue management, as well as wellbeing workshops for private groups and workplaces.

Different services, but the same philosophy runs through all of them:

You're a whole person. And your wellbeing deserves to be treated that way.

If you're wondering whether something I offer might be right for you, just drop me a message. I'm always happy to chat. 💜

Your body is allowed to be tired even if you don’t think you’ve “done enough” to be tired 💜

Tiredness isn’t only about how many hours you’ve worked or how much exercise you’ve done.

Thinking. Planning. Parenting. Worrying. Making decisions. Being needed. Holding things together. Being switched on all day.

It all takes something from us.

So if your body is asking you to slow down, you don't need to earn the right to listen to it. 🌿

Sometimes caring for ourselves starts with simply noticing:

“Actually… I’m bloody tired.”

And responding accordingly.

(I'm an enormous fan of a nana nap 😉)

Something I hear all the time in the treatment room…

“I didn't realise how much tension I was holding until I came for my massage."

We get used to our bodies, and it's amazing what we learn to put up with and then dismiss as 'normal'.

Shoulders creeping upwards. Jaw clenching. Breathing becoming shallower. Muscles quietly bracing while we get on with everything that needs doing.

Sometimes we don't realise how hard we're holding ourselves together until we're finally given an opportunity to soften.

You don't have to wait until something hurts before your body deserves some care...

Big Love 💜✨

A little space for you next week 💜

If you've been telling yourself for the last few weeks that you really need to book in, consider this your gentle nudge...

Whether your body's feeling tight and uncomfortable, your nervous system's been running at 100mph, you're exhausted and need some proper rest, or you simply fancy an hour where absolutely nobody needs anything from you, I've got you.

Whole Person Healing means we don't need to decide in advance exactly what your treatment should look like. We start with you, as you are that day, and build the session around what you need 🙏

I've got a few appointments available over the coming week:

Tuesday 10am
Thursday 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm
Friday 10am

Booking link into the bio or message me on WhatsApp if you're unsure ☺️

Big love 💜

Apparently we're all going back to the 80s… and frankly, I think I've found my era. 🤣

I spend a lot of my working life talking about stress, nervous systems, slowing down, listening to our bodies and generally taking better care of ourselves.

All important stuff.

But here's your reminder that wellbeing doesn't always have to be so bloody serious.

Sometimes it's meditation.

Sometimes it's massage.

Sometimes it's getting outside.

Sometimes it's laughing until your stomach hurts because the internet has given you enormous hair, shoulder pads and a questionable devotion to Duran Duran. 😂

Play counts. Joy counts. Silliness counts.

We're adults. We have bills, responsibilities, overflowing laundry baskets and approximately 4,726 things to think about at any given moment.

We are still allowed to be ridiculous occasionally.

In fact, I think some of us could probably do with being ridiculous a little more often. 💗

Anyway. I'm off to buy a lava lamp and make a mixtape. ✌️🤣

The place that hurts isn't always the place that needs attention.

It's one of the reasons I stopped offering treatments based purely on individual therapies and moved towards Whole Person Healing.

Someone might come to me because their shoulders are permanently up around their ears.

Of course I'm interested in what's happening physically.

But I'm also interested in...

How are you sleeping?

How stressed are you?

How much time do you spend sitting?

What does your working day look like?

Are you moving enough — or perhaps doing too much?

What else is going on in your life?

Because bodies don't exist separately from the people living in them.

Sometimes the answer is simply that a muscle needs some attention.

And sometimes that tight, guarded body has been doing its best to cope with a life that's asking rather a lot of it.

That's why I treat the whole person, rather than simply chasing symptoms. 🌿

You might not need more rest. You might need to actually feel safe enough to rest.

There’s a difference. 🌿

You can lie on the sofa all evening and still have a nervous system that’s busy scanning, planning, worrying, replaying conversations and mentally working through tomorrow’s to-do list.

Your body has stopped.

But you haven’t.

Sometimes the answer isn’t another early night or a quiet weekend (lovely though those things are).

Sometimes we need to actively give the nervous system cues that it’s safe to downshift — slower breathing, warmth, gentle movement, time outside, therapeutic touch, connection with another human being.

Rest isn’t just the absence of doing.

It’s allowing ourselves to come out of doing mode in the first place.

And I think quite a lot of us have forgotten how 💜

The summer is officially over 😭 tiddler is back at school in year one and this week will be my first week back on 5 day working.

As well as having lots of time to play, both with my little boy and out in nature, I've had lots of time to reflect about the direction of my practice.

Some of you may have seen earlier on in the summer that I was playing around with the idea of reviving Zumba...well after a really tough year with some personal challenges, my body is basically saying no, and I'm not too proud to admit that I probably got a bit excited before thinking about the physiological feasibility of that 🤣🫣

So that's in the can.

However, one of the things that I'm hearing a LOT (and feeling myself) is that financially things are tough for everyone right now. Wages literally aren't keeping up with the rise in the cost of living, but at a time when I think people need access to therapies more than ever. So, I'm floating two ideas at the moment...

1) I'd like to start off a regular monthly workshop teaching safe therapeutic touch. Think partnering up with someone in a beautiful venue, a little guided meditation, some gentle breath work and then giving and receiving deeply relaxing massage (over clothing), therapeutic hair play and really just a chance to connect and relax with like minded people. In my mind this would be a way for people to access regular nervous system soothing work, without the price tag of coming to see me 1:1.

2) I'd like to start a WhatsApp group called 'Self Care for Survivors' for survivors of post-separation abuse. This would be largely a one way group where I share mindfulness practices, practical tips and techniques and peer support to women who are tired of trying to explain themselves in circles that don't fully understand. There's potential scope for organising monthly meet ups, opening up the group for wider peer support for a set window each week, but this is something I want to grow and evolve according to what people need. I'm thinking something as low as a fiver a month subscription.

If you've made it to the end of the long ass post, congratulations 👏🎉 and if you're interested in either of these, please let me know.
