Fun facts where both terms originated.
Name Meaning: The British term “fringe” started during the Victorian era in the 1830s. People noticed that hair cut straight across the forehead looked like the ornamental border fringe or tassels found on curtains and furniture.
Comparison to “Bangs”: The North American term “bangs” comes from the 19th-century equestrian practice of “banging” a horse’s tail—cutting the tail straight across in a blunt flat line.
