Over 20 years ago I studied Cosmetology (Hair, Skin and nails) in the U.S.A - since that time I have worked in several fields from waitress, developmental disability care worker, office administrator and everything in between. Feeling like I had lost who I was, I decided to work from home. This was before COVID and there wasn't many options to choose from other than one MLM after another but none of them let my identity shine through. Frustrated and lost I tried to remember from my past what I had done that had always brought me joy and a sense of accomplishment... Beauty! I love letting my creativity flow and through nails and makeup I could do just that. It wouldn't be too impactful on my health and it would enable me to work from home as well as giving me a purpose again! In July 2022, I completed my M.U.A level 1 and I could already feel a spark starting to reignite the passion and fire inside. In March 2023, I qualified as a Level 3 Nail Technician! A lot had changed in 20 years but so much had also remained the same and just came flooding back to me! My next goal was to set up working from home. I wanted to have a space that I could welcome clients to without interrupting my family's day to day life. I had the perfect space in mind, so in July 2023, after making all the necessary arrangements and getting all of the required permissions, work finally got underway. By mid August the transformation was complete - GHBS Beauty Room was ready to launch! As with any new adventure there have been a few hiccups along the way but I am so proud to have been able to set goals and achieve them!! As we now head into 2024, what lies ahead?? I am in the process of launching my press on nail kits but there is so much more to come!! I have good and bad days when it comes to my ongoing medical conditions - with fibromyalgia being the leading cause and it will only continue to decline. I finally found me again! I think this is one of the hardest things that we have to deal with when it comes to illnesses like these, we lose the ability to be who we once were and often struggle to adapt to our new normal. If you take nothing else from this - do not give up. You can find yourself again, granted it may not be how you originally intended it to but you define your illness it isn't who you are. It is only a part of you, a part that challenges every part of who we are and what we are able to do but trust me believe in yourself and you can do so much more. Learn what works for you and then find ways to adapt it to make it better. GHBS - the story behind the name...
It won't be a long drawn out saga I promise. When I began stepping back into the beauty world, I started off selling beauty products - makeup and skincare. At this time I was promoting makeup that doesn't budge or smudge for up to 18 hours - Stay Put Kisses by Emily - at that time seemed a perfect fit. However, as I began looking down other avenues I wanted to rebrand. I needed a business name that better described what I was doing at the time as well as where I wanted to go in regards to getting away from MLM and focusing on more of a service based as opposed to product based. It was the end of 2020, and we all know what a crazy year it had been. I was unable to do face to face product demonstrations due to COVID - instead I started planning my goals for the next few years to identify exactly where I wanted to take my business. It was around this time that I met my partner. He would refer to me as his 'Good Heart'...
I wanted a business name that was meaningful, sentimental and above all special to me... and that is how Good Heart Beauty Services came to be. Thank you for taking the time to get to know GHBS a little better xx
