Considering Lived in colour by Bella💎 told me this was the session she was most nervous about…. You’d never believe it!

She’d only ever done lowlights the way college teaches…alternate highlight, lowlight, highlight, lowlight and never really understanding what they were actually doing to the hair (which is also how I was taught 16 years ago!)

For this session we discussed:

What lowlights actually do.
Why placement matters more than pattern.
How to put depth directly underneath a highlight and what that does for dimension.
How to approach the parting, what tone, what depth to pick.

I was blown away by how quickly Bella picked this up once she understood the intention behind it all.

Bella came to me wanting to broaden her knowledge of Lived-in Colour (one of the most requested looks in the salon), but the inspo pictures can feel completely overwhelming and the techniques over complicated 🤯

We spent time reading foil patterns, how to conduct a thorough consultation and how to manage expectations before a single foil went in!

One sectioning pattern, adapted to create most lived-in looks you’ll ever be asked for… blonder or more dimensional, depending on the contrast your client wants.

We broke down face framing, worked out root formulas and styled to actually show off the colour.

Bella left with a goody bag of Montibello UK products, tint brushes, my favourite blending tool and a full workbook with applicable theory to take it all into her own services.

So proud of and what she created. Can’t wait for our next session.
