That you’ll still reach for your phone to tell them something🥲

That you can be surrounded by people and still feel completely alone.

That some days you’ll feel okay, and others the grief will hit you as if it happened yesterday.

That grief isn’t something you “get over.”

You learn to carry it.

The truth is, grief doesn’t only show up when we lose a person.

Sometimes we grieve a version of ourselves.

An identity.

A chapter of life we never thought would end.

I’ve experienced both.

The loss of someone I love, and the loss of the person I thought I’d always be.

And what I’ve learned is that grief changes you.

Not because it breaks you, but because it asks you to grow around the spaces that loss leaves behind.

As I was creating these tattoos and looking back through these images, I realised something.

Healing isn’t about returning to who you were before.

It’s about learning to honour what you’ve been through while continuing to move forward.
