Ashbourne’s Big Fashion Day Out!

Blonding Masterclass…

Creating the right bespoke blonde for each client is something we do every day, but yesterday Jessica had the opportunity to take her expertise even further by completing the Advanced Blonding Masterclass with L’Oréal Professionnel Paris Hair Colour Education • L’Oreal Pro • Hair Tutorials in Leeds.

The session explored advanced techniques for achieving the ideal tone and lift while maintaining optimum hair health.

When did you join the team?
I joined in June this year. Although I’ve only been with the group for a couple of months, I’ve already had the opportunity to head to Leeds for a Cut & Colour Masterclass with Marlon Hawkins from Brooks & Brooks, which was so much fun! It was great to learn just how versatile the L’Oréal colour range is.

Since returning to hairdressing, I feel like my skills have really been elevated, and I’m loving being back behind the chair.

Before joining the group, I worked for another hairdressing company for 8 years before setting up my own hair space, which I ran for 2 years.

What is your current favourite hair look?
I love creating colour that looks effortless, dimensional and grows out beautifully — maximum impact, minimum effort!

Who is your famous hair icon?
I’m a big fan of Zendaya and her stylist, Ursula Stephen. They’re always changing it up while keeping everything feeling effortless and versatile. I love seeing what they create for her red-carpet looks!

Must-have hair care?
I’m really enjoying the Silk Serum from the SM signature range. It helps add a glossy finish, tame frizz and provides heat protection too. It doesn’t leave your hair feeling heavy after too!

I usually apply it to wet hair before blow-drying, and it leaves the hair feeling smooth and looking super glossy.

Favourite hair moment?
A standout hair moment for me is the bob! It’s such a classic, and there’s a length to suit pretty much everyone. They’re also so much fun to personalise to each individual.

Whether you love a sharp, structured cut or something a little softer and more tailored, a bob is always chic and timeless.

Wow, yesterday was a packed day, with all of our new first-year apprentices at The Old Hall!

They took part in a Kérastase Hair Spa education session - a fantastic introduction and a great start to their training.

It’s back! Ashbourne’s Fashion Day Out returns on Sunday 6th September 2026 for a celebration of community, creativity and style. Last year’s event was fantastic, and we can’t wait to do it all again.

The Market Place will be transformed into a live runway, with fashion shows featuring looks from local businesses, accompanied by live DJs and a vibrant street-party atmosphere.

We’ll be backstage styling the models’ hair for the Young Ideas and Henmores Country Lifestyle shows, and the day is shaping up to be as big as last year.

VIP tickets are £5 per show and include front-row seating at your selected runway show. This is a community event and 100% of ticket proceeds go directly toward making the day possible.
