One of my favourite lymph nodes to work with is posterior auricular lymph nodes; located behind the ear… They filter lymphatic fluid coming from the scalp, ears, and eyes - helping your lymphatic system to fight local infection and inflammation; thus improving your wellness and skin health ⭐️ face
What actually happens during microneedling?
Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin using sterile needles. This stimulates your body's natural wound healing response activating fibroblast cells that are responsible for producing collagen and elastin ⭐️ Over time, this helps strengthen, repair and remodel the skin from within.
The temporary microchannels created during treatment also enhance the absorption of suitable professional serums, allowing active ingredients to pe*****te more effectively.
Over a course of treatments consistently, microneedling can help improve
✅Acne scarring
✅Some pigmentation
✅Fine lines & wrinkles
✅Enlarged pores
✅Uneven skin texture
✅Overall skin radiance
1. Not being consistent ❌For the maximum benefits of Microneedling, you have to be consistent with your treatments. I always suggest treatment every 4-6 weeks which is when the skin is turning over a new cycle making it the perfect time to ‘top up your collagen’
2. Using strong actives immediately after treatment ❌ Microneedling is the kind of treatment whereby the body will process the treatment naturally, so you want to just allow that process without too much interference. A simple cleanse and moisturise routine is enough. I always recommend to reintroduce actives 7-10 days post treatment
3. Wearing makeup after treatment ❌ Following a Microneedling treatment, the skin is very vulnerable therefore it’s important not to apply makeup immediately after treatment to avoid potential irritation in the skin. As mentioned above, this is a treatment whereby the body naturally processes the treatment therefore, it’s best to just let that process happen with minimal additions to skin. Makeup can be applied 48 hours prior to treatment
So you’ve been to the GP/Clinic/EU Pharmacy and they have prescribed you Tretinoin or Adapalene but it’s not quite working for you?
Let me help you 💡
Firstly,
Tretinoin is a long standing member of the Retinoic acid family. Also know as Vitamin A which is available topically and orally.
But there’s levels to this❕ and tretinoin is HIGH levels so it should be used correctly for the best results and to avoid damaging your skin (like I did 🥲)
Here’s my advice as a professional facialist who has a lot of experience with Tretinoin on my skin and my clients too.
▫️Before getting into Tretinoin consider introducing your skin to Retinal or Retinol first which is a more gentle form of retinoic acid and it is available OTC.
⬇️Start tretinoin low and slow; 0.025% is enough to start with (and perhaps stay with)
I know the package instructions say use it daily, but I suggest to use it 1 - 2x per week to start for 6 - 8 weeks as your skin adjusts. After that you can increase/decrease usage depending on what your skin is telling you
🧴Moisturising your skin well with a good hydrating + barrier protecting cream is so important, because a damaged skin barrier will not receive tretinoin well ❌
🌞Tretinoin use makes the skin more vulnerable therefore, ALWAYS protect your face from the sun using all methods available to you. It’s no joke, dont learn the hard way 😅
To conclude, Retinoic acid is a traditional ingredient that has been around for many years for a reason; it really is the gold standard of skincare however, when used improperly it may disappoint you.

In loving memory of Medusa 🥀 - my poor treatment room plant that I killed due to neglect… or maybe it was the steam 🤔🤷🏾♀️
The ultimate neck fascia release restores tissue function and mobility in the neck and upper back. Honestly, it feels good 👌🏾

Shop IVY’ SKIN now⭐️ a skincare collection from me; a professional Facialist with 8 years experience with skin. This is something I developed from my experience with my own skin as well as, listening to the concerns of you as my clients. It became apparent to me that the majority of skin concerns that I saw in my clinic were because the skin barrier is damaged ⚡️Before/while using actives on the skin and undergoing skin treatments it’s key to have a good hydrated healthy barrier that can support skin treatments for the best results. So I produced skincare that uses good healing, repairing and hydrating ingredients that support a healthy skin barrier.
