A short break is on the way… apparently even physios need a bit of rehab!
Align Physiotherapy will be closed from Thursday 10th September, reopening Tuesday 22nd September.
I’ll be using the time wisely — plenty of rest, sunshine and some intensive work on the six-pack. The prognosis remains uncertain.
If you’d like to get an appointment booked before I go or for when I’m back, just send me a message or email:

💭 Back Pain: True or False?
There’s a lot of advice out there when it comes to back pain—but not all of it is true.
❌ “I should stay in bed.”
❌ “My spine is out of place.”
❌ “I need a scan.”
❌ “Exercise will make it worse.”
These are some of the most common myths I hear in clinic, and believing them can sometimes delay recovery.
The good news?
✅ Most episodes of back pain aren’t serious.
✅ Keeping active is usually one of the best things you can do.
✅ The right advice, treatment and rehabilitation can help you recover and get back to the things you enjoy.
Every person is different, so if you’re unsure what’s causing your back pain or you’re struggling to manage it, a thorough assessment can help identify the cause and create a treatment plan that’s right for you.

“Why does my shoulder hurt?” 🤔
Shoulder pain is one of the most common reasons people come to see a physiotherapist—but there isn’t always one simple answer.
In clinic, we commonly see:
✔️ Rotator cuff-related shoulder pain
✔️ Frozen shoulder
✔️ Shoulder osteoarthritis
Although these conditions can share similar symptoms, they each require a different approach to assessment and treatment.
That’s why it’s so important not to rely on Google or self-diagnose.
A thorough assessment helps identify what’s really causing your pain, so we can create a treatment plan that’s right for you—not just your symptoms.
The earlier you seek advice, the easier it often is to regain movement, reduce pain and get back to doing the things you enjoy.

Why does your pain keep coming back? 🤔
One of the most common things I hear is:
“It got better… but now it’s back again.”
The truth is, recurring pain is rarely random.
Often, the pain settles, so we naturally return to work, the gym or our normal routine—but the underlying issue hasn’t been addressed. Before long, the pain returns, and the cycle starts all over again.
At Align Physiotherapy, we don’t just aim to reduce your pain—we work to understand why it’s happening in the first place.
Through a thorough assessment, personalised treatment and the right rehabilitation plan, we’ll help you build strength, confidence and resilience so you can get back to doing the things you enjoy.
Don’t settle for temporary relief. Let’s break the cycle together.

💭 “Should I have a scan?”
It’s one of the most common questions I hear in clinic.
The answer? Not always.
For most people with back pain, neck pain or joint pain, a scan isn’t the first step. A thorough assessment, understanding your symptoms and identifying what’s driving your pain are often far more valuable.
Scans can be incredibly useful in the right circumstances—but they don’t always explain why you’re in pain, and many age-related changes seen on MRI or X-ray are completely normal.
That’s why at Align Physiotherapy, we take the time to assess you, not just your scan.
If you’re struggling with pain or aren’t sure what the next step should be, I’d be happy to help.

“I’ve been told I have spondylosis…”
It’s something I hear regularly in clinic, and it often causes unnecessary worry.
The truth is, spondylosis is a very common age-related change in the spine. In fact, many people have these changes on a scan and experience little or no pain at all.
A scan is just one piece of the puzzle. Your symptoms, movement, strength and lifestyle are far more important than a word written on an MRI or X-ray report.
The good news? Staying active, building strength and following the right rehabilitation plan can make a huge difference.
If you’ve been living with neck or back pain and you’re not sure where to start, I’d be happy to help.

Pain doesn’t always mean damage.
It’s one of the biggest misconceptions we see.
Many people assume that if something hurts, they must be making it worse by moving. In reality, pain is much more complex than that.
Sometimes your body is simply being overprotective.
That’s why understanding why you’re in pain is just as important as treating it.
At Align Physiotherapy, we take the time to assess what’s really going on, explain it in plain English, and create a treatment plan that’s tailored to you.
Our goal isn’t just to reduce your pain.
It’s to help you get back to walking, exercising, working, playing with the kids, sleeping better, and doing the things you enjoy with confidence.
If pain has been holding you back, we’d love to help.
