WHAT TO EXPECT AS YOUR SKIN HEALS....

Having your skin blemish removed is only the first part of the process. Your skin then needs time to heal.
It’s completely normal for the treated area to look different immediately afterwards and during the healing process. It will often appear darker to begin with. This will all be discussed in your consultation with me prior to your treatment.

A few things you are likely to expect are...

● Redness or mild swelling – this can occur immediately after treatment and will gradually settle.
● A darker or brown appearance – some blemishes can temporarily appear darker as the area dries and begins to heal.

● A small scab or crust will form, this is a natural part of the healing process and acts as the skin’s protective covering (this is a good sign).

● Mild sensitivity or tenderness for a short period of time following treatment.

● Pink or lighter skin underneath – once the crust has come away, the new skin can initially appear pink or lighter than the surrounding area. This will settle gradually as the skin continues to heal.

AFTERCARE IS IMPORTANT

✔️ Follow the aftercare advice provided at your appointment
✔️ Keep the area clean and protected
✔️ Avoid picking, scratching or removing any crust
✔️ Avoid unnecessary heat, sun exposure and activities that may irritate the area while it heals
✔️ Use SPF once appropriate for the treated area and according to your aftercare instruction and remember healing takes time.

*The appearance immediately after treatment is not necessarily the final result. Every person and every blemish will heal differently*

BEFORE & AFTER 🔎

Skin tags can be removed using diathermy to cauterize or dehydrate skin blemishes by thermolysis, creating a heating effect to cauterize or dehydrate the skin lesion. This treatment process has a very high success rate at removing or reducing unwanted skin blemishes.

○ Post treatment the blemish will initially appear smaller, darker, and harder than before. Allow the natural healing process to occur and do not encourage removal too quickly.

○ Aftercare must be followed. The area treated can take up to 6 weeks to heal, depending on what skin lesions have been treated, a follow-up appointment will be made to ensure the area has healed and no further treatment is required.

○ Some skin blemishes will need to be checked with either a GP or Dermatologist prior to removal.

Post treatment, slight redness or swelling (usually settles within hours to a few days).
Small scabs/crusts that fall away in 5–14 days.
