There are parts of being a nail tech that no one prepares you for.

People think we just paint nails, but what they don’t see are the years of conversations, laughter, tears, milestones, weddings, babies, heartbreaks, and life that happen across that nail table. Clients stop feeling like clients. They become friends. Sometimes they become family.

So when someone you’ve poured your heart into for years quietly disappears, ignores you, or chooses to leave without a word… it hurts more than most people realize.

I know it’s part of this industry. I know clients come and go, and not every relationship is meant to last forever. Sometimes people leaving makes room for those who truly value you.

But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t sting.

Because I wasn’t just building a business—I was building relationships. I cared about your life, celebrated your victories, worried about your struggles, and looked forward to seeing you every few weeks.

The hardest part isn’t losing the appointment. It’s grieving the connection you thought meant something to both of you.

Maybe that’s the downside of loving what you do. You don’t just invest your time—you invest your heart.

And sometimes, that’s the part that breaks the most.
