Does skin with blemishes or uneven tone really need more makeup? Or does it simply need a more considered approach?
Less is more. But only when you understand where less is enough.
One of the biggest misconceptions in makeup artistry is that more product means better coverage.
It doesn't.
Skin with blemishes, redness or uneven tone doesn't necessarily need a heavier foundation. Often, a lighter base combined with carefully placed coverage creates a far more beautiful result.
The key is knowing where to build, where to leave the skin alone and, perhaps most importantly, when to stop.
Natural skin texture doesn't need to disappear for a complexion to look flawless.
Good makeup isn't about using the least product possible. It's about using exactly what's needed — and nothing more.
That's where discipline comes in.

Less is more. But knowing when to stop is everything.
She told us it was the best makeup she'd ever had, and she'd had plenty.
The secret? Restraint. Knowing what to enhance, what to leave alone, and when enough is enough.

Our beautiful Filipino bride told us she had chosen The Laurels after seeing our previous work with Asian skin, so the trust was there from the very beginning.

So we were given the freedom to really work with her features, sculpting, lifting and defining while keeping everything unmistakably her.

She asked ChatGPT for exactly what she wanted. We came up No.1. 👀
And with Belfast’s beauty industry on her doorstep, that one felt pretty special. 🤍
She'd never had her makeup professionally done before and was very nervous about lashes, the only pair she'd ever tried lasted all of three minutes! 😂
Everything was tailored completely to her, her complexion, colouring, features and what she wanted from the finished look. And her reaction? Tears at the makeup reveal… then tears all over again when she saw the finished hair. 🥹
The best bit? She couldn't believe how light everything felt. “I don't even feel like I've got anything on.”
A transformation that looked like a transformation, without feeling like one. ✨
