A PMU student story so far…..
Wow! Such a difference since February. I’m pleased to tell you I have now completed my first lot of training in hyper -realism eyebrow tattooing with Kimberley Shanks.
What an amazing experience it has been, it has tested my patience, pushed my comfort zone; I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thrown the towel in. But, I have had the most fantastic support from Kimberley. Who has sent me many voice notes encouraging me to keep going.
The journey, however is yet to be completed, if in fact it is ever completed. Because learning is lifelong and believe you me, I’ve got still some way to go. I’ve got more books and signed up for more training.
As an artist, a perfectionist and with having such responsibility of people’s eyebrows and their faces, I take perfecting this very seriously.
I would like to carry on my case studies because what’s important to me is observing the healing process and I can assess my technique and my skills even further from there.
So, I’m searching for 3 new case studies, men or women. We would go through an intensive consultation process so that I can be sure you are a suitable candidate for eyebrow tattooing, no previous work please. There will be no charge for the first two sessions and anything needed after that will have a small charge.

Update - A SPMU student story so far……
So, Jayne very kindly offered to be a case study model.
The brief - to get rid of the 90’s brow; to bring up the tail without compromising too much of the length of brow. A challenge? You flippin’ well bet it was…….
You can see what change we needed to make to fit the brief with the initial mapping. But Jayne felt like her brows aged her as there was too much droop in the tail. Yes, it means she’ll need to maintain a little and pluck the hairs away and she is up for that.
The final result for the first session. These brows are by no means finished. We’ll need to see how they heal and touch up the pigment. I also learned that offering a cup of tea half way through wasn’t the best idea I ever had. The caffeine and heat caused her capillaries to fill which meant she was prone to trauma/bleeding. As you can see on her tail. That will heal and disappear. However, I’m proud of taking this on.
I researched heavily, asked for help from my trainer and worked meticulously as I could with just 6 months experience. Jayne is chuffed to bits! As am I……… to be continued

Hyper realism brows - A student story so far…..

This is my third case study’s touch up treatment. I was very pleased to see Amanda again as I didn’t pass the initial procedure and I was desperado to get my hands on them again. I hadn’t done enough hair strokes so, to the trained eye, they looked like hair strokes but too far apart.

I’m also learning that skin thickness and type really do play a massive part in how easy it is or isn’t to get pigment to implant in the skin.

I had to focus on the needle type and found the larger diameter needles worked much better at a slower speed. This means my natural hand speed needed to be slower, where naturally I think I’m usually a little fast. Probably because of all the nail filing over the years..

I spent time on mostly regenerating the brow as it has reduced in saturation by about 70% (oily skin problems) then adding in the connecting hairs to give more depth, definition and shape.

Amanda has the most stunning eyes so to help frame them again was an absolute honour. Onwards……. 🥁

I’m happy to report I’ve passed my second case study, just one more to go!

My beautiful friend trusted me to practice on her and what a bloody fantastic result. (even if I do say so myself)

I prepped a lot for these, lots of practice shapes, lots of support from my tutor lots of latex, pig skin practice. Each model brings new learning, more sweat and tears (from me) no blood you’ll be pleased to hear.

It’s bloody hard and it’s pushing me out of all of my comfort zones, but inside I know I can do it. ❤️ p

So, a case study for Hyper-realism brows came in today for a top up and further work to shape up her pre existing brows.

I’m so pleased with how these brows have developed and my second ever person to trust me with practicing on them.

Today was an extremely valuable lesson in my learning journey in becoming a qualified semi-permanent eyebrow tattooist.

This is Claire, she’s been a reliable guinea pig of mine for years now, as well as a client and friend.

She kindly volunteered to be my first solo model, as I began working towards passing case studies, to become a fully qualified SPMU artist.

It’s not lost on me that there’s a massive amount of trust put in me and a huge responsibility on my part and I was determined to give her what she wanted regardless of my inexperience.

Alas, on first completion, this case study didn’t pass and I understood why. That’s why it was so important to get her back after 4-5 weeks of healing, to improve on what I’d done and build on the hair strokes and shape.

There’s soooooo much to learn, but today I learned more about the correct needle size to use on certain skin types; my hair strokes were improving on human skin and my observational skills were more focused too.

I’m loving learning this, it’s nerve racking, overwhelming and tiring at times but equally as rewarding. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Cheers Claire 🍻

Started my training 3 months ago, I’ve learned sooooo much in such a short space of time and I’m just little obsessed.

Being taught by one of the best obviously helps (🙏) but practice 💯, is key. I’m still developing, progressing and learning every time my needle touches a piece of latex, pig skin or real life model’s skin. It’s very much ❤️
