⚠️ Why Correct Hard Gel Removal Matters ⚠️

These images show what can happen when the natural nail becomes over-filed during the removal or maintenance of hard gel.

I have full permission to use these pictures, which is someone I know. This is not my work, I am not using this to bash any other technician this is for educational purposes. Everyone is human every one makes mistakes, it’s how we move on learn and grow.

➡️ Photo 1:
The redness beneath the nail plate suggests the nail has become very thin. When too much of the natural nail is removed, it can become sensitive and more vulnerable to damage.

➡️ Photo 2:
As the nail grows, the weakened nail plate can begin to split at the free edge. This is because the nail has lost some of its natural strength.

➡️ Photo 3:
Several weeks later, the damaged area continues to grow out. The free edge is noticeably thinner and more brittle, making it much more prone to breakage.

Why is this important?

Unlike soak-off products, hard gel should be carefully reduced rather than aggressively removed.

A safe removal or infill involves:
✨ Reducing the product in thin layers.
✨ Changing to a finer grit as you get closer to the natural nail.
✨ Regularly checking the nail to ensure you’re filing product—not natural nail.
✨ Preserving the health and thickness of the natural nail throughout the service.

Unfortunately, once the natural nail has been over-filed, there is no quick fix. The damaged area simply needs time to grow out, which can take several months depending on the individual’s nail growth.

💛 As nail professionals, our priority should always be the health of the natural nail. Beautiful enhancements should enhance the nail—not compromise it.

🤍 A Little Recovery Update 🤍

I just wanted to pop on and give everyone a little update.

I had really hoped to be back in the salon next week, but unfortunately my body has other plans. I’ve been struggling with the changes that this operation has made, and some of the pain still hasn’t quite settled. If I’m honest, I’ve probably been trying to do a little too much, too soon, and it’s become clear that I need to listen to my body and give it the time it needs to heal.

Because of that, I won’t be returning next week as planned. Instead, I’ll be back the following week, but on significantly reduced hours while I ease myself back into work.

To everyone who had appointments booked over the next week, thank you so much for your patience. I’ve now been in touch and rescheduled everyone who has been affected.

I also want to say a huge thank you to Tasha. She has been an absolute godsend throughout all of this, helping to cover appointments where she could, constantly checking in on me, and just being an amazing support. I’m so lucky to have her, and I honestly can’t wait until we’re back working together in the salon again.

I also can’t tell you how much I’m missing seeing all of your lovely faces. Anyone who knows me knows I’m not someone who enjoys sitting doing nothing! Despite all this beautiful sunshine, I’ve managed to sit in the garden for about half an hour before ending up back inside. It’s definitely been an adjustment, and emotionally it’s been much harder than I ever imagined.

When I do return, I have very limited availability due to my reduced hours, so if you’d like an appointment, please pop onto the booking link as soon as you can.

You’ll also notice a small change to my booking system. Deposits are now 25% instead of 50%, just to make booking a little easier for everyone.

Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, for every message, every check-in, every kind word and for being so understanding. Your support has genuinely meant the world to me.

I’m counting down the days until I can get back to doing what I love and seeing you all again.

Lots of love,

Steph 🤍

💛 A Little Recovery Update 💛

I just wanted to pop on with a little update and say thank you for all of your lovely messages, support and patience over the last week. It really has meant so much. ❤️

I’m healing well and everything is moving in the right direction, but I’ve realised I may have been a little optimistic about jumping straight back into work after four weeks! While I will still be returning as planned, it will be on a phased return to make sure I don’t jeopardise my recovery.

For my first couple of weeks back, I’ll be working shorter days and won’t be carrying out every treatment while my body continues to heal. Towards the end of August, I should be back to my normal working hours and treatment list.

I’ll be contacting any clients who may need a slight adjustment to their appointment time or treatment, and I really appreciate your understanding while I ease myself back into work.

This recovery has been a little tougher than I expected, and I’m making a conscious effort to listen to my body and give it the time it needs to heal properly.

In the meantime, if I can persuade someone to give me a lift (as I’m still not allowed to drive for a little while yet!), I’ll be popping into the salon every now and then to keep myself occupied, organise a few things, and get all my gorgeous new nail colours onto nail pops ready for when I’m back.

Thank you again for being the most understanding, supportive clients I could ask for. I honestly can’t wait to see you all again very soon.

Love,
Steph 🤍

I just opened up my August Diary 🙌♥️

✨ A Little Update ✨

Many of my regular clients will know that I’ve been waiting a long time for surgery due to ongoing struggles with endometriosis.

After years of trying different treatments, the time has finally come for me to have a hysterectomy. I only received confirmation on Monday, and tomorrow morning I’ll be heading into hospital for my operation.

As a result, I will be closed and not taken on any appointments while I recover, and I’ll be taking the next 4 weeks to focus on healing and getting back to full strength.

I want to thank each and every one of you for your understanding, support, and patience. It means more than you know. ❤️

I can’t wait to be back doing what I love and seeing all your lovely faces again in 4 weeks’ time.

Until then, take care of yourselves, and I’ll see you all soon!

Love,
Stephanie 💋
