Important Business Update – Please Read!

I’ve been a little quieter than usual over the last few days, and I just wanted to come on here and be completely open and honest with you all.

Running a small business over the last year has been a huge learning curve. It’s been all about trial and error, figuring out what works best for both my clients and myself.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve found things a little tougher. With the summer holidays and the nicer weather, I’ve experienced more last-minute cancellations and no-shows. Although it’s only been a handful, I can honestly see why so many small businesses struggle to survive.

Before every appointment, I purchase stock, set aside time in my diary, and travel to and from the studio. When an appointment is cancelled at the last minute or someone doesn’t show up, it has a significant impact on my business.

Unfortunately, I’ve also had instances where no payment has been received for missed appointments, even after sending payment reminders. I kindly ask that you please don’t book an appointment unless you’re able to pay for it, whether you attend or not. Your appointment time has been reserved especially for you.

I’ve also had a few occasions where clients have left the studio without paying and settled their balance a day—or even several days—later. Chasing payments creates additional admin that takes time away from my business, so I’d really appreciate it if all appointments could be paid for before leaving the studio.

Changes to My Booking System

Since February, I’ve been using an online booking system after originally starting with a paper diary last August. While I hoped it would make things easier, I’ve found that over the last couple of months it has actually made managing my diary more difficult.

The online system takes card details to protect against no-shows, but unfortunately many of the cards provided have insufficient funds, meaning the protection isn’t effective. I’ve also found that the system creates unnecessary gaps in my working day, whereas a paper diary gives me much more control over my schedule.

From Tuesday, 1st September, I’ll be returning to a paper diary.

I’ll be introducing a dedicated business mobile number, which I’ll share on my page soon. Going forward, if you’d like to book an appointment, please contact me via text message or WhatsApp on this number (rather than my personal number), or continue to message me through my business social media pages.

You’ll still be able to browse my social media and view my treatment and service list as normal. The only change is that appointments will now be booked directly with me, either during your visit or by messaging me.

As before, a 50% deposit will be required to secure all appointments. Bookings will only be confirmed once the deposit has been received via bank transfer.

As I’ll be returning to a paper diary, automatic appointment reminders will no longer be sent. I kindly ask that you make a note of your appointment date and time when booking, as this will now be your responsibility.

Finally, I’d like to say a huge thank you to every single one of you who continues to support my small business. Your loyalty, recommendations and understanding mean more than you know, and I truly appreciate each and every one of you. I look forward to continuing to welcome you to the studio🩷
