Important information for what you can expect at your Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage

The Dr Vodder (that I have personally been trained in) method of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is distinct from other lymphatic massages due to its focus on the lymphatic system rather than against it.

Unlike traditional massage that targets muscles, MLD focuses on the the thin lymphatic vessels that lie just beneath the skin's surface, using specific rhythmic strokes to encourage the flow of lymph fluid back towards the heart. These strokes are gentle superficial moves.

The technique requires of distinct stroke patterns and the pressure remains consistently light throughout. This method is highly researched.

This massage is VERY different from a Swedish massage whereby Swedish massage enhances blood circulation, delivering more oxygen and nutrients to tissues.

MLD is a gentle, rhythmic technique that stimulates the lymphatic system to move excess fluid from tissues toward lymph nodes, where it can re-enter the bloodstream and be filtered .

Again, very unlike Swedish or Deep tissue massage, it uses light pressure and specific sequences to encourage lymph flow, which is essential for maintaining fluid balance and supporting immune surveillance.

I am overwhelmed and forever grateful for the interest that this new treatment has attracted. 19 of you have booked in at the discounted price which is more than I had ever expected - I am thinking now I should have perhaps capped the amount 🤔. Never mind, all will most certainly be honoured.

From 21st September a 90 Minute Full Body Lymphatic Drainage with contour wood therapy will be an introductory price of £65 until the end of the year. I have kept this at as a competitive price as possible with most similar treatments being in the region of £75 - £95 in other nearby areas. This is the full 1 hour and 30 mins.

With all these new bookings however, it does mean that I have very little appointments for any treatment between now and 22nd September!

I have some small spaces on 9th September and a larger on 17th September. If you are looking for any appointment then I would suggest booking in as early as possible. If you cannot find anything suitable then do please send me a message and I can see if there is anything I can do, but there really is not much wiggle room.

What IS Lymphatic Drainage Massage?

Think about the lymphatic system as your body's drainage and cleaning system.

In simple terms:
Your lymphatic system has 3 main jobs:-

1. It drains excess fluid 💧
As blood travels around your body, some fluid naturally leaks out into the tissues. The lymphatic system collects that extra fluid and returns it to your bloodstream.
Without this drainage, fluid would build up and cause swelling (oedema).

2. It helps protect you from infection 🛡️
Lymph nodes act a bit like filters and security checkpoints. Lymph fluid passes through them, and they help detect and deal with bacteria, viruses and other unwanted substances.
That's why lymph nodes can become swollen when you're fighting an infection.

3. It transports waste away 🧹
The lymphatic system picks up waste products, excess proteins and cellular debris from tissues and helps move them towards areas where the body can process or remove them.

What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?
