💉 **LET'S TALK ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ALL THESE “INJECTABLES” YOU KEEP HEARING ABOUT…**

This is probably one of the biggest misconceptions I see in aesthetics.

Clients will say:

“Is that basically filler?”

Or…

“Isn't that like Botox?”

Or…

“What's the difference between polynucleotides and a skin booster?”

And honestly, I don't blame you — there are SO many products and treatments now that it can be incredibly confusing.

So let's break it down 👇🏻

# # # 💦 SKIN BOOSTERS

Think **skin quality rather than changing the shape of your face.**

Skin boosters are generally injected into the skin to improve things such as:

✨ Hydration
✨ Skin smoothness
✨ Radiance
✨ Fine lines
✨ Texture
✨ Elasticity
✨ Overall skin quality

They aren't primarily there to create cheekbones, lips or a jawline.

They're about making the **skin itself look healthier.**

Different skin boosters contain different ingredients, so “skin booster” isn't actually one specific product — it's a category.

---

# # # 🧬 POLYNUCLEOTIDES

Polynucleotides are another **skin-rejuvenation/biostimulatory category**, rather than traditional volumising filler.

They are used with the aim of improving:

✨ Skin quality
✨ Hydration
✨ Elasticity
✨ Fine lines
✨ Texture
✨ Overall skin regeneration/revitalisation

They are particularly popular around areas where we want improvement in skin quality without adding significant volume, including the face and periocular area.

There is published consensus supporting PN treatments for facial, periocular, neck, décolletage and other skin-rejuvenation applications, although the evidence base is still developing.

**Think: “better skin.”**

Not:

**“bigger face.”**

---

# # # 💉 DERMAL FILLER

Now we're talking about **structure, volume and contour.**

Most traditional facial fillers are hyaluronic-acid based.

Depending on the product and where it's placed, filler can be used to:

👄 Add lip volume
🍑 Restore cheek volume
🦴 Enhance chin projection
📐 Define the jawline
👃 Refine certain areas of the nose
💧 Restore lost facial volume
✨ Soften certain folds and depressions

The really important thing is that **fillers aren't all the same.**

Some are soft and flexible.

Some are designed to provide support.

Some are designed for projection.

Some are better suited to superficial areas, while others are designed for deeper placement.

So when I choose a filler, I'm not simply thinking:

**“How much filler can I put in?”**

I'm thinking:

**“What does this particular tissue need?”**

---

# # # 💥 BOTOX / BOTULINUM TOXIN

And this is where people get confused…

**Botulinum toxin isn't filler.**

It doesn't fill a hollow.

It doesn't replace lost volume.

It doesn't plump your lips.

Instead, it works by temporarily reducing the activity of targeted muscles.

That's why it's commonly used for:

✨ Forehead lines
✨ Frown lines
✨ Crow's feet
✨ Bunny lines
✨ Masseter slimming
✨ Nefertiti/neck treatments
✨ Certain lower-face muscle patterns

So…

**Filler = adds volume/support**

**Botulinum toxin = reduces muscle activity**

Two completely different treatments.

# # # 🧪 ALIDYA vs LIPO LAB

Now let's talk body treatments because these two are VERY often put into the same category.

They're not necessarily the same thing.

**ALIDYA**

Alidya is marketed as an injectable treatment aimed particularly at the appearance of **cellulite**, with its proposed action focused on the tissue environment associated with cellulite.

It isn't simply:

“fat dissolving injection = smaller area.”

Its intended aesthetic target is different.

---

**LIPO LAB**

Lipo Lab is a range of injectable lipolysis products, and the exact formulation matters because different Lipo Lab products can contain different ingredients.

These treatments are generally marketed for **localised fat reduction/body contouring**, rather than primarily treating the structural appearance of cellulite.

So:

**Alidya → think cellulite/tissue quality**

**Lipo Lab → think localised fat reduction/body contouring**

And this is exactly why I don't recommend choosing an injectable simply because you've seen someone advertise it online.

I need to know:

**WHAT is the problem we're actually trying to treat?**

Because cellulite, skin laxity, poor skin quality and localised fat are **not the same problem.**

---

# # # 🧠 AND HERE'S THE BIGGEST LESSON…

There is no single injectable that does everything.

You can't look at someone's face and say:

“Everyone needs filler.”

Just like you can't say:

“Everyone needs Botox.”

Or:

“Everyone needs polynucleotides.”

Your face ages through **multiple different processes**.

You can have:

• Muscle movement
• Collagen loss
• Elastin changes
• Skin thinning
• Dehydration
• Volume loss
• Fat redistribution
• Ligament changes
• Bone remodelling
• Skin laxity

So why would we expect ONE PRODUCT to fix all of that?

# # # THIS IS HOW I THINK ABOUT IT:

💥 **BOTULINUM TOXIN**
Muscle activity

💧 **SKIN BOOSTERS**
Hydration + skin quality

🧬 **POLYNUCLEOTIDES**
Skin revitalisation + biostimulation

💉 **DERMAL FILLER**
Volume + structure + contour

🍑 **BODY LIPOLYSIS PRODUCTS**
Localised fat/body contouring — depending on the specific product

🌸 **CELLULITE-FOCUSED PRODUCTS**
Different target again — cellulite/tissue appearance

And sometimes…

**the BEST treatment isn't an injectable at all.**

It might be skincare.

It might be a peel.

It might be microneedling.

It might be a device treatment.

Or it might be doing absolutely nothing until your skin is ready.

That's what I mean when I say I don't just “sell filler.”

**I assess the problem first, then choose the tool.**

Because good aesthetics isn't about putting the most products into your face.

It's about understanding **WHY you're treating something, WHAT you're treating it with and WHAT you can realistically expect it to achieve.** ❤️

*This is general educational information. Products and formulations vary, indications can be product-specific, and suitability should always be assessed by an appropriately qualified practitioner.*
