Another DBT one for you this week, this time itâs Opposite Action. The ideaâs simple: when an emotionâs pushing you to do something that wonât actually help, try doing the opposite instead.
Feeling anxious and want to avoid something? Do it anyway, gently. Feeling low and want to isolate? Reach out to one person. Frustrated and want to snap? Soften your voice first.
It wonât feel natural, thatâs kind of the point, it works precisely because it interrupts the pattern. Save this one for next time đ¤

This week Iâm sharing a bit of DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy), one skill at a time. First up, the STOP skill, one I use myself when things start to feel like too much.
Itâs simple: Stop, Take a step back, Observe whatâs actually going on, then Proceed mindfully rather than just reacting. Small thing, but it genuinely helps you get a bit of space before you respond to something.
Save this one for next time you need it đ¤

If youâre dealing with anxiety or low mood, youâve probably been told to âtry mindfulnessâ about a hundred times and it can feel like a bit of a throwaway suggestion when youâre actually struggling. So hereâs one thing thatâs a bit more useful than just âbe present.â
Anxiety and low mood often pull you in two different directions, anxiety drags your attention into the future, low mood drags it into the past. Mindfulness isnât about clearing your mind or feeling calm on command, itâs about noticing where your attention actually is right now, without judging yourself for it.
One simple way to start, next time you notice your mind racing or stuck on something, just name it. Not analyse it, not fix it, just âthis is anxietyâ or âthis is my mind going backwards again.â That tiny bit of distance between you and the thought is where mindfulness actually does its work.
It wonât fix everything on its own and itâs not a replacement for proper support if you need it, but itâs a genuinely useful tool to have alongside whatever else youâre doing.
I send out simple, practical tools like this every week, grab my free Mini Mental Reset Kit here and Iâll pop you on the list đ

Sometimes we just need a reset . and that doesnât mean itâs always about meditating or being in nature . sometimes it means we need a bloody good laugh ,itâs about having fun which is something I donât see often talk about .
we all here so much about relaxation , walking, eating well , but laughing and having fun is such an important part of life , whenâs the last time you belly laughed whenâs the last time you watched something funny , whenâs the last you danced or did something you feel is fun. Intentionally do one thing this week that makes you laugh and see how you feel afterwards.

Healing isnât one moment. Itâs a process.
Itâs learning to feel your feelings instead of pushing them away. Itâs noticing whatâs happening in your body when your mind gets loud. Itâs understanding why you react the way you do and slowly, gradually choosing differently.
Real healing involves both the mind and the body. You canât think your way through it. You have to feel it, process it and let it move through you.
And that takes time. It takes patience. It takes a lot of self compassion on the days when it feels like nothing is shifting.
But something is always shifting, even when you canât see it. Every time you pause instead of react, every time you breathe through something instead of running from it, every time you choose to be kind to yourself instead of critical thatâs healing happening.
Itâs not linear. Itâs not pretty. But itâs real and itâs worth it. đ

I Wanted to properly explain what The Reset Room is all about because I get asked a lot. It started because I kept noticing the same thing, people who knew something needed to shift but werenât ready for (or didnât need) a therapy room. They just needed something in between. Practical, gentle, actually grounded in real understanding, without it feeling clinical. So thatâs what The Reset Room is, two sides of the same thing really. Thereâs the self-help side, workbooks, mindset tools and guidance built around my RESET framework (Recognise, Examine, Sense, Explore, Transform). Itâs all about understanding why you think and react the way you do, and working with your patterns instead of against them. Then thereâs the in-person side, Reiki and the Reset Facial, both here to help calm your nervous system down properly, not just relax you for an hour and send you straight back out feeling the same. Iâm Claire, Iâm a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist (NCPS accredited) and Iâm also qualified in hypnotherapy, so everything here comes from what Iâve learned supporting people properly, not just theory. Some people want to read and work through things in their own time and some people need to lie down in a quiet room and let their body catch up, and The Reset Room is built to hold both of those. If youâve been wondering what it all actually is, thatâs it, one idea, two ways in. Fancy trying a treatment for yourself? Message me to book Reiki or a Reset Facial, Iâd love to help you switch off for a bit x
