Finished at last. The beautiful Eassie Pictish stone. A commission which took all of a month and a half. The knotwork was challenging, technical yet strangely absorbing. Tales from topographic oceans by Yes was the soundtrack to this piece. I actually felt quite emotional when it was final finished and I set it free after giving it to the customer.

Now that winter is in the way and it is getting colder I will be making sure I am stocked up with this amazing product. I discovered this incredible tincture a year ago and take it regularly as an immune enhancer. If I feel any bug is trying to get in I up the dose and it literally destroys it. As this is a practitioner blend you can only get it from Healthcraft Herbs from their shop at East Saltoun. It can be posted out but you need to have a brief initial chat with Gillan the herbalist who can check it is suitable for you.

Along with Pictish designs Egyptian tomb art has always intrigued me so I have added a new section to the SunhoneyDesigns Etsy shop featuring art from Egyptian tombs. This pendant features the goddess Isis hand carved and painted on slate.

The Inverurie Horse slate pendant has been added to the SunhoneyDesigns Etsy shop. This beautiful design is based on the Inverurie Horse stone a truly magical stone which now stands in Inverurie cemetery in Aberdeenshire. The Inverurie horse is unique in Pictland and may represent a Kelpie or water horse. The fins on the horses head along with its horn give the creature an otherworldly feel. Most of the Pictish stones in the landscape were never far from water which seems to have played a big part in the Pictish mythology. The beastie design also being very water based.

New Pictish Slate Pendant design in the SunhoneyDesigns Etsy shop. This design is based on the Mortlach stone near Dufftown in Scotland and features the beastie design which was fairly widespread in Pictland and also a beautiful curvilinear design which has only appeared once. Both designs may be mythological and also may pertain to tribal groupings. Whatever the meanings to stone and it’s symbols are truly beautiful and magical

Wandering amongst the May blossom writing poetry:

The purity of the May blossom was a memory of a dress you once wore,
The death of ages transformed this shinning moment into a half remembered truth,
Since then I have wandered unclothed amongst the ancient trees,
Feeling a sense of loss buried amongst the fragrant summer flowers.
